BPSC AI Evaluation Claim: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has rejected claims circulating on social media that Artificial Intelligence (AI) was used to evaluate answer sheets of the Integrated 70th Combined (Written) Competitive Examination. The commission termed such claims baseless, fabricated and imaginary.
In a clarification issued through its official X handle, BPSC said that the answer sheets were evaluated by independent and experienced academicians using the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The commission also explained the security arrangements and monitoring mechanisms followed during the evaluation process.
BPSC has clarified that AI was not used for evaluating the answer sheets of the Integrated 70th Combined (Written) Competitive Examination.
According to the commission, the evaluation was carried out through OSM by reputed and experienced professors and academicians selected as per the predetermined criteria. The evaluation process involved independent evaluators and was conducted over a period of around four months.
The clarification comes after claims regarding AI-based evaluation started circulating on social media, potentially creating confusion among candidates.
The commission stated that the answer sheets were evaluated through On-Screen Marking (OSM). Under this system, answer sheets are processed digitally and evaluated by designated examiners.
BPSC said that independent, reputed and experienced professors and academicians from prestigious universities across the country were involved in evaluating the answer sheets of the 70th Combined (Written) Competitive Examination.
The evaluation was conducted over approximately four months in accordance with the prescribed criteria.
BPSC said that the On-Screen Marking system has been in use since January 2023.
The commission has previously used OSM for evaluating answer sheets of the 67th, 68th and 69th Combined (Main) Competitive Examinations. Therefore, the system is not a new method introduced specifically for the 70th Combined Competitive Examination.
The commission highlighted this information while explaining how the answer sheet evaluation process was conducted.
The commission also addressed concerns related to the security of answer sheets and evaluation data.
According to BPSC, data associated with the OSM process is securely stored on the commission's servers. A Disaster Recovery Server is also maintained at secure locations in accordance with prescribed standards.
BPSC further stated that appropriate checks and balances have been incorporated into the OSM process to minimise the possibility of irregularities.
BPSC has categorically rejected allegations of unauthorised tampering with answer sheets or evaluation data.
The commission described the claims circulating on social media as baseless, fabricated and imaginary. It also stated that a digital trail of the relevant data is securely maintained as part of the evaluation process.
These measures, according to BPSC, are intended to ensure transparency and security during On-Screen Marking.
The commission has advised candidates to exercise their own judgment before believing or sharing such claims on social media.
BPSC said that the allegations were being circulated in a manner that could confuse or mislead candidates. Candidates have therefore been advised to rely on official information issued by the commission rather than unverified posts or claims circulating online.
The latest clarification is aimed at addressing concerns among candidates regarding the evaluation of the BPSC 70th Combined Competitive Examination answer sheets and explaining the OSM-based evaluation process used by the commission.
