In 2026, IIT Kharagpur has announced the Director’s Platinum Jubilee Excellence Fellowship (DPEF) for top GATE and JAM rankers. IIT Kanpur continues its Bright Minds Scholarship for top JEE Advanced rankers, while IIT Delhi offers scholarships and fellowships based on merit, JEE Advanced rank and financial need.
IIT Kharagpur has introduced the Director’s Platinum Jubilee Excellence Fellowship (DPEF) as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations.
Under the scheme, candidates who secure a top 50 rank in GATE 2026 and choose to pursue a PhD at IIT Kharagpur can be considered for the fellowship. Selected candidates will receive Rs 80,000 per month for the first two years and Rs 90,000 per month for the following three years, subject to the applicable admission and fellowship conditions.
The institute has also extended the DPEF initiative to JAM 2026 rankers placed in the top 50 who opt for a master's programme at IIT Kharagpur.

IIT Kanpur's Bright Minds Scholarship is aimed at students who secure a place among the top 100 All India Rank holders in JEE Advanced and join IIT Kanpur's BTech or BS programmes.
Each selected student receives Rs 3 lakh per year. The amount covers Rs 2 lakh towards tuition fees and Rs 1 lakh towards hostel, mess, books, medical insurance and other living expenses.
