
The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2026, the gateway for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), will be conducted on May 17, 2026, by Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). The exam will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple centres in India in two shifts on the same day.

According to the official announcement shared by IIT Roorkee, Paper 1 will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while Paper 2 will take place from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (IST). Candidates appearing for the exam must attempt both papers, which are mandatory for evaluation and ranking.

Paper 1: 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM (IST)
Paper 2: 02:30 PM – 05:30 PM (IST)
The exam will be conducted in CBT format at designated centres across the country.
Only a limited number of candidates qualify to appear for JEE Advanced, making it one of the most competitive entrance exams in India.
Candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions:
Must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates of the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2026.
Candidates should be born on or after October 1, 2001.

The application fee for the exam is as follows:
₹1600: Female candidates, SC, ST, and PwD candidates
₹3200: All other candidates
Payments can be made via debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI through the online portal.
Qualifying candidates will be eligible for admission to various undergraduate and integrated programs offered at the Indian Institutes of Technology. These include:
4-year programs: B.Tech and B.S
5-year programs: B.Arch
Dual degree programs: B.Tech–M.Tech, B.S–M.S, B.Tech–MBA, B.S–MBA
Integrated master’s programs: M.Tech, M.S, and B.S–M.S pathways
These programs cover disciplines in engineering, science, and architecture across the IIT system.
