JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Date Announced: IIT Roorkee Confirms May 17; Registration Starts April 23

The JEE Advanced 2026 examination date has officially been announced. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will conduct the national-level engineering entrance examination on May 17, 2026, according to an official statement released on the JEE Advanced website (jeeadv.ac.in).

The JEE Advanced exam will be conducted in two compulsory papers, each of three hours duration. Paper 1 will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while Paper 2 will take place from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (IST).

The JEE Advanced registration 2026 process will begin on April 23, 2026, for candidates who qualify JEE Main 2026. Eligible candidates must complete the application process by May 2, while the last date for fee payment is May 4, 2026.

This exam is the gateway for admission into undergraduate engineering programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across India.

JEE Advanced Registration 2026: How to Apply

The JEE Advanced registration 2026 process is strictly online. Only the top 2,50,000 qualifiers of the JEE (Main) 2026 B.E./B.Tech. paper are eligible to apply.

1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to jeeadv.ac.in.

2. Login: Use your JEE (Main) 2026 credentials.

3. Fill Details: Provide basic data and choices for examination cities.

4. Upload Documents: Scanned copies of certificates (Category, Class X, Class XII) are required.

5. Pay Fee: Complete the registration by paying the fee before May 4.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Appear?

To maintain high academic standards, IIT Roorkee enforces five specific criteria. The primary hurdles include:

1. Performance in JEE (Main) 2026

Candidates must be among the top 2.5 lakh successful candidates. The category-wise breakup for shortlisting is:

• GEN-EWS: 10%

• OBC-NCL: 27%

• SC: 15%

• ST: 7.5%

• OPEN: 40.5%

2. Age Limit

Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001. However, SC, ST, and PwD candidates receive a five-year relaxation, meaning those born on or after October 1, 1996, are eligible.
