As the January session of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 draws to a close, the spotlight shifts to the April Attempt. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to activate the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 registration link shortly, with the window tentatively set to open on January 31, 2026.
Whether you're looking to improve your Session 1 percentile or are applying for the first time this year, the registration for the April session (scheduled from April 2 to April 9, 2026) is your final gateway to the NITs, IIITs, and JEE Advanced.

For 2026, the NTA has introduced high-security measures to ensure transparency. Follow these steps carefully:
The registration now starts with a mandatory Aadhaar Authentication.
For Aadhaar Users: Your name, gender, and date of birth will be fetched directly from the UIDAI database.
For Non-Aadhaar Users: You must provide alternative government IDs (Passport/PAN) and arrive at the exam center 1 hour early for manual biometric verification.
Fill in your academic qualifications (Class 10 and 12 details). For Session 2, you can select up to four exam cities in order of preference.
Note: NTA usually allots centers based on the permanent or present address provided in your Aadhaar.
Unlike previous years, you cannot just upload a gallery photo. You must perform a Live Photo Capture using a webcam or the NTA app.
Ensure your background is white.
80% of the photo should cover your face (no masks, caps, or tinted glasses).
Ensure your scanned documents meet these NTA specifications:
Passport Photo: JPG format (10 KB to 200 KB).
Signature: JPG format (4 KB to 30 KB) on white paper with black/blue ink.
Class 10 Certificate: PDF format (50 KB to 300 KB) for age proof.
Payment must be made online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI.
General/OBC (Male): ₹1,000
General/OBC (Female): ₹800
SC/ST/PwD: ₹500
If you appeared for Session 1 (January), the process is even simpler:
Log in with your existing Application Number and Password.
Your personal details will be pre-filled.
Choose the Session 2 (April) option.
Select the paper (B.E./B.Tech or B.Arch/B.Plan).
Pay the fee for the second session and download the new confirmation page.
Name Mismatch: Ensure your name on the application exactly matches your Class 10 certificate. In case of a mismatch with Aadhaar, use the "Correction Option" provided during registration.
