JEE Main 2027 Date Clash: Parents Demand Rescheduling of Maharashtra HSC Practicals

Students preparing for both the Maharashtra HSC Board examinations and JEE Main 2027 Session 1 may face a schedule overlap, prompting parents to raise concerns. Parents of aspirants have appealed to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to coordinate and address the issue for affected students.

According to the NTA exam calendar, JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will be conducted on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30, 2027, while January 31 has been designated as a buffer date. At the same time, Maharashtra HSC practical, oral, graded and internal assessment examinations are scheduled to take place from January 20 to February 6, 2027.

Parents Raise Concerns, Seek Changes in Maharashtra HSC Practical Schedule 

The schedule overlap does not necessarily mean that every student will have both examinations on the same day, as Maharashtra HSC practical dates are determined individually by schools and junior colleges. However, parents are concerned that Science stream students could face difficulties if their HSC practical falls on the same date as their JEE Main 2027 examination.

A group of parents from Maharashtra, including Pune, has approached the state board and NTA, requesting arrangements that would enable students to appear for both the compulsory HSC practical examinations and JEE Main.

Proposed Changes to HSC Practicals and JEE Main

Parents have proposed holding the Science practical examinations during the last week of December 2026 or the first week of January 2027. They have also sought a special practical re-examination window for students whose HSC practical dates coincide with their JEE Main examination.

In addition, parents have requested that NTA provide an alternative JEE Main 2027 Session 1 slot for Maharashtra candidates affected by the schedule overlap. The parents are urging the authorities to coordinate and work towards a solution that is considerate of students.

They should also stay in contact with their respective schools or junior colleges for information about individual practical dates and any further instructions.
