The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has rescheduled the State Services Main Examination, giving candidates additional time to prepare. The exam, which was earlier scheduled to be held between March 29 and April 26, will now take place from April 5 to May 2, 2026.
The decision was taken after candidates requested more preparation time following the preliminary examination results. Aspirants who qualified in the MPSC State Services Preliminary Exam can now submit their application forms for the Main Examination until March 14, 2026.
The MPSC Main Examination 2026 will be conducted in a descriptive format across multiple days. The updated schedule is as follows:
| Revised MPSC State Services Main Exam 2026 Schedule | |
| Exam Date | Paper |
| April 5, 2026 | Language Paper I and Language Paper II |
| April 18, 2026 | Essay – Paper III |
| April 19, 2026 | General Studies I (Paper IV) and General Studies II (Paper V) |
| April 26, 2026 | General Studies III (Paper VI) and General Studies IV (Paper VII) |
| May 2, 2026 | Optional Subject – Papers VIII and IX |
Candidates should carefully review the revised timetable and plan their preparation accordingly.
For Papers III to VII, candidates are allowed to write their answers in Marathi or English. However, the same language must be used for all five papers.
The commission has clearly stated that answers written in a language different from the one declared in the preliminary application and mentioned on the admit card will not be evaluated.
The two language papers will carry 300 marks each, and candidates must score at least 25% marks in these papers to qualify.
The merit ranking will be determined based on the marks obtained in Papers III to IX, which together carry 1,750 marks. Additionally, the interview stage will carry 275 marks.
The MPSC State Services Examination 2026 is being conducted to fill 139 posts across various departments of the Maharashtra government.
The examination will be conducted at centres in the following cities:
Pune
Nashik
Amravati
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Nagpur
Navi Mumbai
Candidates must check their admit cards carefully to confirm their allotted exam centre and other important instructions.
The revised schedule provides additional preparation time, which can help candidates strengthen their preparation for the descriptive MPSC Main Examination. Since the main exam plays a crucial role in determining the final merit list, candidates are advised to focus on answer-writing practice, current affairs, and conceptual clarity in General Studies subjects.
Candidates who have cleared the preliminary exam should complete the application process before the March 14 deadline to avoid missing this opportunity.
