NEET PG 2026 Answer Key: The NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted on August 30, 2026. Candidates are now waiting for the answer key and result. Here is everything students need to know about the marking scheme, tie-breaking rules, exam statistics, Jaipur re-examination and official result date.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted NEET PG 2026 on August 30. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's official release, 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination, which was scheduled for 2,73,096 registered candidates across 1,111 centres in 339 cities.
With the exam over, candidates are looking for the NEET PG 2026 answer key, score calculation method, expected rank and result updates. Candidates should note that unofficial answer keys or memory-based solutions should only be used for an initial estimate. The official NBEMS website remains the authoritative source for examination updates.
The NEET PG 2026 answer key is the next major update awaited by candidates. As of now, NBEMS has not announced an official answer-key release date.
Candidates should avoid treating answer keys released by coaching institutes or other platforms as official. Such keys can help in estimating scores, but the final evaluation will be based on the answers and process prescribed by NBEMS.
Once an official answer key or related notice is published, candidates should check it through the NBEMS NEET PG portal rather than relying on social media posts or unofficial links.
The NEET PG 2026 examination pattern was revised to 180 questions carrying a maximum of 720 marks. The marking scheme is:
| NEET PG 2026 Marking Scheme | |
| Response | Marks |
| Correct answer | +4 |
| Incorrect answer | -1 |
| Unanswered question | 0 |
Therefore, candidates can calculate an estimated raw score using:
NEET PG Score = (Correct Answers × 4) − (Incorrect Answers × 1)
For example, if a candidate has 150 correct and 20 incorrect responses:
(150 × 4) − (20 × 1) = 580 marks
This should be treated only as an estimate until the official result is declared.
NBEMS has specified criteria for determining the merit position when candidates obtain the same score. The criteria are applied in the prescribed order:
Candidate with fewer incorrect answers overall gets preference.
If the tie continues, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers in Section A gets preference.
The number of incorrect answers in Sections B, C, D and E, in that order, is considered.
If the tie still remains, the candidate with higher aggregate marks in MBBS professional examinations gets preference.
If required, the older candidate is placed higher.
Thus, two candidates with identical marks may still receive different merit positions depending on the tie-breaking criteria.
The official government release provides the following examination statistics:
| NEET PG 2026 Exam: How Many Candidates Appeared? | |

These figures were released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare following information from NBEMS.
The examination could not be completed for 2,445 candidates at two centres in Jaipur's Sitapura area because of an internal power supply-related technical disruption.
The affected centres were iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura, Jaipur, with test centre numbers 41682 and 41683.
To ensure that the affected candidates receive an equitable opportunity, NBEMS has scheduled a NEET PG 2026 re-examination on September 5, 2026, at 3 PM in Jaipur. Further venue and examination instructions are to be communicated to the concerned candidates.
The September 5 re-examination applies to the 2,445 candidates affected by the disruption at the Jaipur centres. Candidates whose August 30 examination was completed should not assume that they need to appear again.
The official schedule specifies that the NEET PG 2026 result will be declared by September 30, 2026.
Candidates should therefore treat September 30, 2026 as the official result deadline and not rely on unofficial claims about an earlier result date.
The result is expected to provide candidates with their score and rank details as prescribed by NBEMS.
The NEET PG 2026 scorecard has not been released yet because the examination has only recently been conducted.
Candidates should download their scorecard from the official NBEMS portal once it becomes available after the result declaration. The scorecard will be important for subsequent admission and counselling processes.
Do not confuse unofficial score estimates with the official NEET PG scorecard.
After the result is released, candidates should:
Download the NEET PG 2026 result and scorecard.
Check their marks, rank and qualifying status.
Verify all personal and examination details.
Keep multiple copies of the scorecard for counselling.
Follow official updates regarding NEET PG counselling and seat allocation.
Avoid relying on unofficial counselling information until the competent authorities release the schedule.
Candidates should use the official NBEMS website for NEET PG 2026 updates, including the answer key, result, scorecard and subsequent notices.
The NBEMS NEET-PG portal provides access to examination information, notices, applicant login and results.
