National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially started NEET UG 2026 registration from February 8, 2026, at neet.nta.nic.in. With lakhs of aspirants applying for India’s biggest medical entrance exam, NTA has introduced new verification measures this year, including Aadhaar-based eKYC and live photo capture.
While these steps enhance transparency and exam security, many candidates are facing issues where their live photograph does not match the Aadhaar database photo. This can block the application process. Here’s a clear, step-by-step explanation of what this means and how candidates can resolve it without stress.
For NEET UG 2026, Aadhaar has become a mandatory identity document. During registration, candidates must complete Aadhaar-based eKYC and capture a live photograph through their device camera.
This live photo is automatically matched with the photograph available in the UIDAI Aadhaar database. If the system detects a mismatch, the application will not proceed unless the candidate completes additional identity verification.
In many cases, Aadhaar photographs are old or appear different due to age, hairstyle, facial changes, or lighting conditions. If the system fails to match the live photo with Aadhaar records:
The NEET UG 2026 application will not be completed
The candidate will be asked to upload a valid supporting certificate
Without this certificate, the form will remain incomplete and rejected
This rule applies to candidates facing Aadhaar mismatch issues as well as those using alternative identity verification modes.
If your Aadhaar photo does not match the live photograph captured during NEET UG 2026 registration, don’t panic. Follow these steps carefully:
Check Mismatch Prompt
If the system detects a mismatch, your application will stop and ask for additional verification.
