Why Has NTA Opened the Correction Facility?

The correction window has been introduced after the cancellation of the earlier NEET UG 2026 examination amid allegations of paper leak and irregularities.

Since many students may now be staying at different locations for preparation or travel purposes, NTA is allowing candidates to revise their exam city preferences and current address details to ensure smoother examination arrangements.

Candidates Can Select Two Preferred Exam Cities

One of the major updates announced by NTA is that candidates can now choose:

  • First preferred examination city
  • Second preferred examination city

However, candidates who do not make any changes during this period will continue with their previously selected examination city.

This flexibility is expected to help students get centres closer to their current residence.

No Additional Fee for NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam

NTA has confirmed that candidates will not be charged any extra fee for:

  • Correction process
  • Re-examination
  • City preference update

Earlier, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had also announced that the re-exam would be conducted without any fresh fee payment for students affected by the cancellation.
