UPSC CSE Final Result 2025: Total Candidates Recommended Last Year

In the previous UPSC Civil Services cycle, 1,009 candidates were recommended for appointment to services like IAS, IPS, IFS and other Group A and B posts. The final list was prepared after evaluating candidates’ performance in the Mains written exam and the personality test (interview) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is one of the toughest competitive exams in India, and every year thousands of aspirants wait for the final merit list. In the previous cycle, a little over a thousand candidates were recommended for appointment to various civil services after clearing all three stages of the exam — prelims, mains, and interview. These candidates were selected based on their overall performance and ranked accordingly in the final merit list. The result ultimately decides who gets the opportunity to join prestigious services such as the IAS, IPS, and IFS, along with several other central government services.

UPSC CSE Final Result 2025: Total Candidates Recommended Last Year

In the previous Civil Services Examination cycle, a total of 1,009 candidates were recommended for appointment to various services under the Government of India. The recommendation was made after the completion of the Civil Services Mains Examination held in September 2024 and the personality test interviews conducted between January and April 2025.

Based on the performance in these two stages, the Union Public Service Commission prepared a final merit list of candidates in order of rank. Those who made it to the list were recommended for appointment to some of the most prestigious services in the country, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and several Central Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ services.

Category-wise Recommended Candidates Last Year

The 1,009 selected candidates came from different reservation categories, following the government’s reservation policy. The selection numbers reflect participation from candidates across social and economic backgrounds.

Among the selected candidates, the General category accounted for the highest number, followed by OBC candidates. Candidates from EWS, SC, and ST categories were also recommended based on merit and available vacancies.

  • EWS: 109

  • OBC: 318

  • SC: 160

  • ST: 87

  • Total: 1009

UPSC CSE Final Result 2025

The UPSC CSE Final Result 2025 is expected to be released soon on the official website of the commission. Once announced, the merit list will include the names and roll numbers of candidates recommended for different civil services.

Candidates who appeared for the final interview round are now eagerly waiting for the result, as it will determine their final rank and possible service allocation. The result will also give a clearer picture of how many candidates have been selected for each service.
