The eligibility for the second round of seat allocation depends on the candidate's participation and status in Round 1.

Candidates who received a seat in Round 1 and selected Option 2, subject to fulfilment of the prescribed conditions, can participate in Round 2.

Candidates who were considered for Round 1 but could not secure a seat will also be considered automatically in the next round.

However, candidates who were eligible to participate in Round 1 but did not register or submit their choices will not be considered for Round 2. Such candidates can participate in the Open Round of seat allocation, as per the applicable rules.

The seat allocation process is based primarily on the candidate's merit, category and preferences submitted during counselling.

Candidates from the unreserved category as well as eligible reserved categories may be considered for seats available under the unreserved category, depending on their merit.

When multiple candidates compete for a seat under a particular category, the candidate with the higher merit or rank gets preference over a candidate with a lower rank.

During Round 1, candidates were assigned the highest available institute or seat preference according to their rank and the choices submitted during counselling.

If a candidate's preferred institute or seat was available under both the unreserved and applicable reserved categories, the seat was allotted under the unreserved category, wherever the rules permitted.

A reserved seat is considered for an eligible reserved-category candidate when the corresponding preferred seat is not available under the unreserved category at that candidate's merit position.
