Preparing for nursing recruitment exams is not always easy. Many students face confusion while choosing study resources. Some lose motivation after setbacks, while others struggle to balance work and preparation.
Harsh Kumar's journey was also filled with similar challenges. After completing BSc Nursing in 2024, he started preparing for nursing recruitment exams. During this phase, he joined PW Nursing Wallah and built a preparation routine that stayed with him throughout his journey. Over the next two years, he cleared several nursing exams before securing AIR 1 in AIIMS CRE 2025.
His story is not just about one result. It is about staying consistent even after getting a job, learning from mistakes, and trusting one preparation strategy.
Every preparation journey starts with one decision. For Harsh, that decision came soon after completing his graduation.
While looking for guidance, he came across the launch of Nursing Wallah and decided to begin his preparation there.
"Main 2024 mein pass out hoon. Maine Panipat Nursing College se Nursing ki hai aur uske baad jaise har ek bachcha prepare karne ke liye baithta hai, kaafi confused hota hai. Luckily us time Instagram pe aapka ad aaya tha... PW brand tha. Main bahut khush ho gaya ki free mein kaise padha rahe hain."
Like many fresh graduates, Harsh was confused about where to study from. Instead of collecting different books and courses, he chose to begin with one platform and understand the basics properly.
He joined the Aarogyam batch of Physics Wallah Nursing Wallah. Since it was one of the earliest batches, he has been associated with the platform from the beginning of his preparation.
"Main to proudly kehta hoon ki shayad PW ka sabse pehla bachcha main hi hoon aur mujhe lagta hai shayad sabse last tak bhi main hi rehne wala hoon."
This connection was not limited to one batch. As new batches were introduced, Harsh continued learning from the same teachers and revised the same concepts multiple times instead of searching for new resources.
Looking back, he believes this decision gave his preparation a stable direction from the very beginning.
Like many aspirants, Harsh also experienced moments when he questioned his preparation. Many students often feel that one course or one source may not be enough. However, Harsh decided not to switch between different study materials again and again.
"Main waise divert to nahi hua ki kuch aur padh lete hain... main kabhi bhi MCQ wali books se initial time se comfortable nahi ho paya tha."
During the early months, he faced another challenge. He found it difficult to make proper notes. His notebooks often became mixed with multiple subjects.
"Mere ko notes banana nahi aata tha... main jaise notes banata tha na... usi mein next subject bhi mix kar deta tha."
Even though his notes were not perfect, he never stopped writing or attending classes. He continued watching the lectures again and again.
"Maine kam se kam teen batch aapke dekhe hain. Repeated wahi videos baar-baar."
Watching the same lectures multiple times helped him remember concepts better. Slowly, his note-making skills also improved with practice.
This phase taught him that preparation does not have to be perfect from the first day. What matters more is showing up every day and improving little by little.
After clearing multiple nursing exams, Harsh joined his job. Many students stop studying once they get selected. Harsh chose a different path. His goal was to secure his preferred job in Delhi, so he continued preparing while working.
"Ab to ghar aana hai... jitne bhi exam aaye jisme bhi Delhi likha aata tha na wo sab bhara."
He explained that his preparation never stopped because he knew his journey was not over. Even after long duty hours, he made time to study.
"Job ke time pe it was like five to six hour max... even three and four. So it doesn't matter ki aap kitna long stretches baith jaate ho... consistency better hai."
Instead of focusing only on long study hours, Harsh believed that studying regularly was more important. Even a few focused hours every day helped him stay connected with the syllabus.
This consistency became one of the biggest reasons behind his performance in AIIMS CRE 2025.
As Harsh gained more experience, he noticed one mistake that many aspirants make. They frequently change books, courses, and teachers.
He chose not to follow that approach.
"Main waise divert to nahi hua ki kuch aur padh lete hain."
Instead of moving from one source to another, he kept revising the same material.
"Ek hi source ke paas chalo. Usko do baar dekh lo, teen baar dekh lo. Jo ki maine kiya hai."
According to Harsh, changing resources repeatedly creates confusion because every book explains concepts slightly differently. Revising one source multiple times makes recall easier during the exam.
He believes this habit played an important role in building confidence before every examination.
Another lesson he learnt was that revision becomes easier when students are already familiar with the content.
After watching the same lectures several times, he could remember what was written on the next page even before opening his notes.
This gave him confidence during revision and saved valuable preparation time.
Preparing alongside a job also meant avoiding distractions. Harsh admitted that social media could easily consume valuable study time if not used carefully.
"Application install hi mat karo. Browser mein kholo. Har baar logout karo."
He believed that reducing unnecessary screen time helped him stay focused on preparation.
Another habit that helped him was studying with friends who had the same goal.
"Agar kisi ke paas friend ho same goal wala... unke saath padhai karo."
According to Harsh, studying with serious aspirants naturally increased motivation. Whenever one person studied, the others also felt encouraged to continue.
This environment helped him maintain discipline throughout his preparation.
When the AIIMS CRE examination approached, Harsh increased his study hours after taking leave from work.
"20 days pehle resignation liya tha... is time pe I was clocking around 14 to 16 hours."
Even then, he explained that these long hours were only possible for a short period before the examination. Throughout most of his preparation, consistency mattered much more than studying all day.
While attempting the paper, he avoided overthinking.
"Jo mark kar diya usko review mat karo. Aage chalo."
He also encouraged aspirants to attempt a good number of questions instead of becoming too afraid of negative marking.
"Agar 100 marks ka paper hai to attempt at least 80-85."
After the examination, Harsh was confident about qualifying but never expected to secure the top rank.
"Mujhe bilkul nahi lag raha tha ki rank one aa jayegi... selection ka confidence tha."
When the result was declared, even he found it difficult to believe.
"Jaise hi roll number dala na... mere ko thoda sa vishwas nahi hua... phir confirm kiya to rank one hi tha."
The moment became the biggest milestone of his preparation journey.
Throughout the interview, Harsh repeatedly mentioned that he stayed connected with the same classes and teachers from the beginning of his preparation.
He advised fresh aspirants to follow the class schedule regularly instead of allowing lectures to become backlogs.
"Jo schedule aa raha hai, usko cover hona chahiye. Agar video reh bhi gayi hai to usko jaldi cover karo."
He also encouraged students to revise the same lectures if they did not understand them the first time.
"Videos ko do baar bhi dekho agar samajh mein nahi aaya."
While sharing his experience, Harsh appreciated the guidance he received during his preparation.
"Best guidance aap inse le paoge."
Revising familiar material reduced confusion during preparation. Since he already knew where every topic was explained, revision became faster and recalling concepts during the examination became easier.
Harsh Kumar's journey from a fresh BSc Nursing graduate to AIR 1 in AIIMS CRE 2025 was not built in a few weeks. It was the result of nearly two years of regular preparation, learning from setbacks, and staying committed to one plan.
He balanced work with studies, avoided unnecessary distractions, revised the same concepts multiple times, and continued appearing for exams to gain experience. His story reminds every nursing aspirant that success does not always come from studying the longest hours. It comes from studying consistently, trusting the preparation process, and improving every day.
For students preparing for upcoming nursing recruitment exams, Harsh's journey is proof that disciplined preparation and the right guidance can help turn a long-term goal into a memorable achievement.
