This is a very important section. You need to know how marks are given. The JENPAS UG 2025 Exam Pattern and its marking scheme are different for each question category.
Category 1 (Single Correct Answer)
For a correct answer, you get 1 mark.
For a wrong answer, 1/4 (0.25) marks are taken away. This is called negative marking.
If you do not attempt the question, you get 0 marks.
Category 2 (One or More Correct Answers)
For a fully correct answer, you get 2 marks.
A fully correct answer means you have marked all the correct options and no wrong ones.
For any other answer, you get 0 marks.
There is no negative marking in this category.
The JENPAS UG 2025 Negative Marking rule is simple. It only applies to Category 1 questions. For these questions, if you mark a wrong answer, you lose marks. For every wrong answer, 1/4 of a mark is deducted. This means four wrong answers will take away one full mark. You should be careful when answering these questions. There is no negative marking for Category 2 questions.
While WBJEEB prepares merit lists based on your score, the Indian Nursing Council (INC) has specific rules about minimum qualifying criteria for BSc Nursing admissions. This is a very important point for anyone applying for that course.

The exam is conducted in offline mode. This means it is a pen and paper test, which is a key part of the JENPAS UG 2025 Exam Pattern. You will use a blue or black ballpoint pen. You must fill in the bubbles on the OMR sheet. You must darken the entire circle. The exam paper is bilingual. It will be available in both English and Bengali.
The exam sheets are evaluated by a machine. This is an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) method. The machine checks your answers according to the JENPAS UG 2025 Exam Pattern. You must fill the bubbles correctly. Any wrong way of marking, like a cross or a tick, might not be read. If the machine cannot read your answers, you get no marks. You must be very careful when marking. Do not make any extra marks on the OMR sheet.
Admission to different courses is based on your rank. Your rank is decided by the marks you get. The WBJEEB will prepare merit lists. There are two main lists. One is the General Merit Rank (GMR). The other is the BHA Merit Rank (BMR).
General Merit Rank (GMR): This rank is based on your score in Paper-I. This is used for admission to all courses except BHA.
BHA Merit Rank (BMR): This rank is based on your score in Paper-II. This is used only for admission to the BHA course.
