Upskilling the workforce is the most common strategy. About 85% of surveyed employers plan to adopt this method. It remains a top three priority across all geographies and income levels. High-income economies show slightly higher adoption (87%). Upper-middle-income economies follow at 84%, with lower-middle-income economies at 82%. This trend highlights a universal need for continuous learning.

Automation and Technology Integration

Process and task automation ranks as the second most common strategy. Around 73% of employers expect to increase automation. This figure is slightly lower than the 80% reported in 2023. Automation is more prevalent in high-income economies (77%). Upper-middle-income (74%) and lower-middle-income (57%) economies also use it. Additionally, 63% of employers plan to use new technologies to complement their workforce.

Workforce Composition Adjustments

Employers also plan to adjust their workforce composition. About 70% intend to hire new staff with emerging in-demand skills. Furthermore, 51% aim to transition current employees from declining to growing roles internally. However, 41% foresee staff reductions due to obsolete skills.
