
The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has established strict eligibility criteria for the Drug Inspector Recruitment 2026 (Advt. No. 12/2025). To maintain the high standards of drug safety and regulation in Jharkhand, the JPSC seeks candidates with specialized medical and pharmaceutical backgrounds. Below is a detailed breakdown of the mandatory eligibility parameters.
Candidates must hold a degree from a university established by law in India in one of the following disciplines:
Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Medicine with a specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology.
This requirement is in strict accordance with Rule No. 49 of the Drug & Cosmetics Rules, 1945.
2. Mandatory Professional Experience
In addition to educational degrees, candidates must possess specific field experience to be authorized to inspect the manufacture of substances mentioned in Schedule C:
Manufacturing Experience: Not less than 18 months of experience in the manufacture of at least one substance specified in Schedule C.
OR Testing Experience: Not less than 18 months of experience in the testing of at least one Schedule C substance in a laboratory approved by the licensing authority.
OR Inspection Experience: For those already serving as Drug Inspectors, not less than three years of experience in inspecting firms that manufacture Schedule C substances.
The commission has set a reference date of 01.08.2024 for all age calculations.
Minimum Age: 21 Years.
Maximum Age (Category-wise):
Unreserved (UR) / EWS: 35 Years.
Backward Class / Extremely Backward Class: 37 Years.
Female (UR/BC/EBC): 38 Years.
SC / ST (Male & Female): 40 Years.
PwBD (Persons with Disabilities): Candidates in this category receive a 10-year relaxation in the upper age limit (e.g., 45 years for UR PwBD).
Citizenship: Applicants must be Indian citizens.
Reservation Benefits: The benefits of reservation and age relaxation are strictly reserved for permanent residents (domiciles) of Jharkhand state. Candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved (General) category candidates regardless of their category in their home state.
Candidates must ensure they have original copies of the following to prove their eligibility during document verification:
Matriculation Certificate: To verify date of birth.
Degree Certificate & Marksheets: To prove educational qualification.
Experience Certificate: To prove the mandatory 18-month or 3-year professional experience requirement.
Local Resident Certificate: To claim reservation benefits.
Note: Failure to produce valid proof of any of the above eligibility criteria during the interview stage will lead to immediate disqualification.
General (UR), EWS, BC-I, and BC-II Candidates: ₹600 (Six Hundred) plus applicable bank charges.
SC and ST Candidates (Jharkhand Domicile only): ₹150 (One Hundred Fifty).
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Candidates with at least 40% disability are exempted from paying the application fee.
Non-Refundable: Once paid, the examination fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Payment Method: Fees must be paid online via the JPSC Payment Gateway using Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, Wallet, Bharat QR, or UPI.
Concession Restrictions: Fee concessions (₹150) are strictly reserved for SC/ST candidates who are permanent residents of Jharkhand. If a candidate from a non-eligible category pays the reduced fee, their application will be rejected.
