
UPSSC Pharmacists Syllabus 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has officially released the UPSSC Pharmacists Syllabus 2026 and Exam Pattern. This recruitment drive aims to fill 560 Group ‘C’ Pharmacist positions within the Directorate of Medical and Health Services, Uttar Pradesh. The selection process involves two stages. Candidates need a valid score from PET-2025 to be shortlisted for the Main Written Examination. There will be no interview for these posts.
The UPSSC Pharmacists Syllabus 2026 covers a broad range of topics relevant to the pharmacy profession, computer knowledge, and general information about Uttar Pradesh. The level of pharmacy questions will align with a Diploma in Pharmacy.
Pharmaceutics: Acids, bases, buffers, antioxidants, gastrointestinal agents, topical agents, antimicrobials, astringents, dental products, respiratory stimulants, expectorants, emetics, antidotes, major electrolytes, inorganic official compounds, radiopharmaceuticals, contrast media, quality control, pharmacognosy tests.
Pharmacognosy: Laxatives, cardiotonics, carminatives & G.I. regulators, astringents, drugs acting on nervous system, antihypertensive, antitussives, antirheumatics, antitumour, antileprotics, antidiabetics, diuretics, antidysenterics, antiseptics, disinfectants, antimalarials, oxytocics, vitamins, enzymes, perfumes, flavoring agents.
Biochemistry and Clinical Pathology: Introduction, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, enzymes, therapeutics.
Human Anatomy and Physiology: Scope of anatomy and physiology, elementary tissues, skeletal system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, urinary system, muscular system, Central Nervous System (CNS), sensory organs, digestive system, endocrine system, reproductive system.
Health Education and Community Pharmacy: Concept of health, nutrition and health, first aid, environment and health, fundamental principles of microbiology, communicable diseases, intestinal infections, arthropod-borne infections, surface infections, sexually transmitted diseases, non-communicable diseases, epidemiology.
Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence: Origin and nature of pharmaceutical legislation in India, professional ethics, Pharmacy Act 1948, Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940, Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985, Latest Drug (Price Control) Order, Poison Act 1919 (updated), Medicinal and Toilet Preparations (Excise Duties) Act 1955, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act 1971 (updated).
Pharmacology and Toxicology: Routes of administration, mechanism of action, drugs acting on CNS and respiratory system, autocoids, cardiovascular drugs, drugs affecting renal function, hormones and antagonists, drugs acting on digestive system, chemotherapy of microbial diseases, disinfectants, antiseptics.
Drug Store and Business Management: Introduction, drug house management, sales, recruitment, training, banking, finance.
Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy: Hospital Pharmacy, drug distribution systems, manufacturing (sterile and non-sterile), P.T.C. (Pharmacy Therapeutic Committee), Hospital Formulary System, Drug Information Service, surgical dressings.
History, Introduction, and Application of Computers, IT, Internet, and World Wide Web (WWW).
General Knowledge of: Hardware and Software, Input and Output devices, Internet Protocol/IP Address, IT gadgets and their applications.
Email ID creation and operation.
Operation of Printers, Tablets, and Mobiles.
Important elements of Word Processing (MS-Word) and Excel (MS-Excel).

The Main Written Examination will be an objective-type test. It will comprise 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark.
Candidates will have 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete the examination. A negative marking of 25% (1/4 mark) applies for each incorrect answer.
