How Arpit Ghosh Roy Turned His SSC Dream into AIR 25 with PW Support

Many aspirants prepare for government exams while managing career changes, limited time and the pressure of repeated setbacks. A clear study plan, regular practice and the determination to learn from mistakes can help them stay focused and move towards their goals.

Arpit Ghosh Roy’s journey reflects how consistent preparation can make a difference. After completing BTech in Civil Engineering and working in the private sector for two years, he left his job to focus on SSC exams. He began preparing in July 2025 and secured AIR 25 in SSC CHSL 2025 in his first attempt. His preparation included PW courses, self-study, revision, previous year questions (PYQs) and mock-test analysis.

Arpit Ghosh Roy Started His SSC Journey After Leaving a Job

Arpit completed his BTech in Civil Engineering from Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur. After getting placed, he worked for two years in a construction company before resigning and returning to preparation.

He described the decision and the beginning of his preparation journey clearly:

“Sir maine BTech kiya hai Civil Engineering se. Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology Gorakhpur se. So BTech ke baad meri placement to ho gayi thi and maine job bhi kari do saal in the top construction company of India, but obviously wo government job wali feeling andar thi, to last year maine apni job se resign karke main wapas apni preparation mein aa gaya.”

Arpit also clarified that SSC CHSL 2025 was his first attempt. He had started his preparation in July 2025 and filled the CHSL form close to the deadline.

“Ye mera first attempt tha. Because last year maine July 2025 se preparation start kari. And CHSL 2025 ka form bas last two days bacha tha jab maine isko fill kiya tha. CGL ka form mujhse miss ho gaya tha, jiske liye mujhe bahut regret hai. But still ye mera first attempt hai and mujhe bahut khushi hai ki first attempt mein maine AIR 25 laaya hoon.”

This marked the beginning of a focused preparation phase after his two-year work experience.

The initial phase was not without setbacks. Arpit explained that one of his biggest mistakes was attempting examinations before completing enough of the course. He initially considered himself ready after covering only around 40–50% of the course.

“Last year se jab maine preparation start kari, so meri jo sabse badi mistake thi wo yahi rahi ki main aadhe course mein, matlab maine agar maine poora course complete bhi nahi kiya, 40-50% course completion ke saath hi maine socha ki main ready hoon. Main abhi exams de sakta hoon.”

This approach led to repeated failures in the examinations he attempted. He then realised that completing the syllabus had to come first.

“So main I jumped into all the exams and result kya hua ki maine lagataar saare exams fail kiye. So setback to laga mere liye aur main ekdum depressed bhi feel karne laga. But saath hi jab mujhe ye realization hua ki syllabus khatam karna is very important. Ek baar aapko syllabus khatam karna hi karna hai. So once I completed my syllabus and uske baad jitne bhi exam diye sab qualify hote chale gaye.”

After this experience, Arpit focused on completing the syllabus and building his preparation before appearing for examinations.

Arpit Ghosh Roy Found Structure in PW Courses and Classes

While beginning his preparation, Arpit found that YouTube had many resources, but they were scattered. He spent time deciding which subjects to study from where before coming across PW.

“So aap bhi jaante hain YouTube par bahut saare resources hain aur unmein se scrap out karna ki kaun sa subject kahan se padhna hai. It’s very very difficult and bahut time taking hai. So maine phir bhi kareeb ek hafta do hafte maine ismein diya kahan se mujhe kaun sa subject padhna hai. But main bahut convinced nahi hua because resources bahut scattered the. So I came across PW.”

He then explored PW courses, their structure, study timetable and class schedules before deciding to enrol. He also watched demo classes before purchasing the course.

“Uske maine courses dekhe. Courses ka structure dekha, study timetable dekha, classes ke schedule dekhe. So wo match kar raha tha mere se aur bahut hi achha structured way mein jo courses lage hue the, matlab subjects lage hue the. Bahut structured way mein the. So mujhe pasand aaya wo structure. So maine bina kuch soche samjhe pehle demo classes bhi dekhi jo PW provide karta hai app pe. Mujhe bahut pasand aaya. Maine turant purchase kar liya.”

Arpit also explained that the scheduled classes allowed him to balance classes with self-study. He used both live and recorded classes depending on his schedule and kept weekends for revision and backlog clearance.

After creating an organised routine, Arpit followed a three-part preparation approach based on concepts, practice and analysis. He also gave importance to previous-year questions and mock tests.

“Basically ma’am maine aapke saath pehle bhi share kiya hai ki mera preparation teen pillars pe based tha. First is concept. Concept seekh liya. Uske baad us particular concept se related questions ka practice kar liya. Questions practice karne ke baad jo hamare wrong questions hue ya jinmein humko thoda doubt tha uska analysis kar liya. So it is based on concept, practice and analysis.”

For him, PYQs helped him understand the examination pattern, while mocks provided an exam-like experience. He focused on analysing mistakes instead of only looking at scores or ranks.

“So PYQs ka to bahut bada role hai ma’am. Like PYQs is a blueprint, yes blueprint of the paper. Aapko examiner ne paper de diya aapke saamne, ye hote hain PYQs. So kisi bhi topic ko padhne ke baad, kisi bhi chapter ko padhne ke baad PYQs solve karna is a must.”

His preparation also included personal notes. Arpit said he made notes for every subject and used them as a single place for revision.
