DSSSB ASO 2026 Selection Process

The DSSSB ASO 2026 recruitment usually follows a structured multi-stage selection process designed to evaluate candidates' knowledge, skills, and fitness for the Assistant Section Officer (Grade-II) role in Delhi government departments. This process ensures merit-based selection without an interview component.

Tier-I Examination

The initial stage is an objective written exam comprising 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) worth 200 marks, conducted online. It covers General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, Hindi Language, and English Language, with a duration of 2 hours and a negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Candidates qualifying this tier based on cut-off marks proceed to the next stage.

Tier-II Examination

Tier-II is more comprehensive, totalling 300 marks with 200 questions split between objective (MCQs) and descriptive sections. The objective part assesses similar subjects as Tier-I but in greater depth, while the descriptive component tests English/Hindi language proficiency through essay writing or précis. This stage carries a higher weightage and includes negative marking, emphasizing accuracy and expression skills.

Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates from Tier-II must present original documents for verification, including educational certificates, age proof (birth certificate or matriculation mark sheet), caste/category certificates (if applicable), identity proof, and reservation-related documents. Any discrepancy leads to disqualification, underscoring the need for accurate application details.

Medical Examination

Qualified candidates undergo a medical fitness test as per departmental standards to confirm physical suitability for the role. This step is mandatory and conducted by authorized medical boards.

Final Merit List

Selection is finalized purely on aggregate marks from Tier-I and Tier-II exams, adjusted for category-wise reservations. No weightage is given to skill tests or interviews for ASO posts, though some notifications mention potential trade/skill tests for specific roles. The merit list determines appointments against 587+ vacancies announced under Advt. No. 01/2026.
