How Vikram Secured SSC GD Final Selection in CRPF With PW

Vikram’s SSC GD journey did not end with his first attempt. Hailing from Ajmer, Rajasthan, he scored 124 marks in his first attempt but missed the final cut-off of 138. Instead of giving up, he used that experience to improve his preparation and pushed himself harder for his second attempt.

With PW classes, regular practice and a strong focus on mock tests, he worked on his weaker areas, especially GK and maths. His efforts eventually paid off when he cleared the written, physical and medical stages and secured final selection in the CRPF. For Vikram, the achievement was even more special as it became the first government job in his family.

Vikram Turned His First Attempt Into a Learning Experience

Vikram’s first SSC GD attempt did not go as planned. He scored 124 marks, but the final cut-off reached 138 marks, leaving him short of selection.

Instead of treating the result as the end of his journey, he used the experience to understand where he needed to improve.

Talking about his second attempt, Vikram said:

“Sir, ye mera SSC GD ka second attempt tha. First attempt mein mere 124 number the, but cut-off 138 chali gayi thi. Is baar maine thodi aur mehnat ki, khud ko push kiya aur finally medical, physical sab clear hone ke baad final list mein naam dekhne ko mila.”

His second attempt shows how an unsuccessful result can become a learning experience. He understood the level of competition and came back with greater focus and determination.

His Final Selection Became the First Government Job in His Family

For Vikram, the result was more than just a personal achievement. It was a proud moment for his entire family.

The result came late at night when his family was almost asleep. Vikram was checking the final selection list when he saw his name.

He immediately went to tell his mother.

“Sir, result thoda late aaya tha. Gharwale lagbhag so gaye the. Main list mein naam check kar raha tha. Jaise hi naam dikha, sabse pehle mummy ko bataya.”

His mother was extremely happy because Vikram’s selection was the first government job in his family.

He shared:

“Mummy ki khushi dekhne layak thi. Hamari poori family mein ye pehli government job hai, toh unko bahut zyada khushi hui.”

His father works as a truck driver and was in Gujarat when the result was announced. His mother later shared the news with him.

Vikram’s sister also posted about his selection, after which calls and congratulatory messages started coming in.

“Phir meri sister ne status laga diya, aur uske baad phone pe phone aane lage—badhai ho, badhai ho.”

For Vikram, the selection was therefore not just about getting a job. It was a moment of pride for his entire family.

Vikram Used His Strengths to Maximise His Score

Vikram came from a Hindi-medium background and had studied Hindi Literature in college. Because of this, Hindi was not a major challenge for him during SSC GD preparation.

Mathematics, however, was initially a weaker area.

Talking about it, he said:

“Sir, main Hindi medium se tha aur college mein bhi Hindi Literature thi, toh Hindi ka mujhe itna issue nahi aaya. Maths thodi weak thi.”

He then joined maths classes and gradually became more confident.

“Phir maths ki aapki class li, toh usse mujhe maths mein kaafi strong feel hone laga.”

Reasoning became another strong section for him. He managed to answer 20 out of 20 questions correctly.

He said:

“Reasoning mein mere 20 out of 20 correct hue the. Maths aur reasoning mere plus points the.”

This helped him maximise his score in the sections where he was comfortable while continuing to work on his weaker areas.

Mock Tests Helped Vikram Improve in GK

General Knowledge was one of Vikram’s weaker areas. Even though he gave time to GK, he found it difficult to remember facts for a long time.

Instead of depending only on memorisation, he started focusing more on mock tests.

He explained:

“GK meri shuru se weak thi. Maine usko time diya, lekin main GK ki cheezein yaad nahi kar pata tha. Isliye maine mock tests pe zyada focus kiya.”

Regularly attempting mocks helped him recall information and become familiar with questions from previous years.

He added:

“Mock test lagate-lagate bahut saari cheezein dobara recall hona start ho gayi thi, especially previous year ke questions.”

For Vikram, mock tests became more than just a way to check his score. They helped him revise, recall information and understand the kind of questions he could expect in the exam.

He Did Not Rely on Traditional Note-Making

Interestingly, Vikram did not follow the usual strategy of making detailed subject-wise notes.

When asked whether he made notes, he gave a very straightforward answer:

“Sir, sach bataun toh mujhe notes banana aata hi nahi hai. Maine aaj tak kabhi proper notes nahi banaye. Bas practice karta gaya. Meri rough copies bahut bhari hui hain.”

Instead of spending a lot of time making detailed notes, he focused on solving questions during classes and practising regularly.

He did, however, maintain a separate notebook for questions that he considered important.

“Jo questions mujhe important lagte the, unke liye ek alag copy bana rakhi thi. Saare subjects ke questions usmein mixed the.”

His preparation was therefore centred more around practice, question-solving and revision than lengthy note-making.

Vikram Focused on Questions That He Found Important

During classes, Vikram paid attention to questions that he felt were particularly useful.

He did not try to write down everything taught in every class. Instead, he focused on questions that he thought were worth revising later.

When asked about his approach, he explained:

“Jo questions class mein karaye jaate the aur mujhe important lagte the, main unko note kar leta tha aur baad mein revise karta tha.”

His teacher also explained why this approach can be useful:

“Maan lo class mein 15 questions karaye gaye. Unmein se do-teen questions aapko lagenge ki ye mere liye bahut important hain. Wahi aapki actual learning hai.”

Vikram followed this approach throughout his preparation. Rather than trying to remember everything, he identified the questions that he found useful and revised them before the examination.

Trust in PW Helped Him Stay Consistent

Vikram confirmed that he followed PW classes throughout his preparation.

When asked whether he took all his classes from PW, his response was simple:

“Ji sir, saari classes aapse hi li hain.”

Following one consistent source helped him avoid the confusion that can come from constantly switching between teachers and study materials.

For Vikram, PW classes became an important part of his preparation, particularly for improving mathematics and practising questions.

The conversation also highlighted how important trust can be during competitive exam preparation. Once students trust their preparation strategy and remain consistent, they can focus better on improving their performance.

His Journey Shows That Background Does Not Decide Your Result

Vikram’s story is also a reminder that your background does not have to determine your chances of success.

His father works as a truck driver, and Vikram came from a Hindi-medium background. Yet, with consistent preparation and regular practice, he was able to clear SSC GD and secure a government job in the CRPF.

His first attempt did not result in selection. But instead of giving up, he learned from the experience and came back stronger.

His journey proves that a setback does not have to be the end of your preparation.

From 124 Marks to Final Selection in CRPF

Vikram’s SSC GD journey can be summed up simply: one setback, a stronger second attempt and final selection.

After scoring 124 marks in his first attempt and missing the 138-mark cut-off, he worked harder and focused on improving his preparation.

He strengthened mathematics, maintained his strong performance in reasoning and Hindi, and used mock tests to improve his GK preparation.

He then cleared the written exam along with the required physical and medical stages and finally saw his name in the SSC GD final selection list.

For Vikram, the achievement meant much more than a result. It became the first government job in his family and a proud moment for his parents and sister.

Vikram’s Advice for SSC GD Aspirants

Vikram’s experience gives SSC GD aspirants several practical lessons:

  • Do not give up after one unsuccessful attempt. Use your first attempt to understand your mistakes.

  • Identify your strengths. Vikram used reasoning, mathematics and Hindi to maximise his performance.

  • Work consistently on weak areas. He continued working on GK even though it was difficult for him.

  • Take mock tests regularly. Mocks helped him revise GK and recall important information.

  • Practise instead of overcomplicating preparation. Vikram focused heavily on solving questions.

  • Revise important questions. He kept useful questions separately for revision.

  • Trust your preparation. Once you find a reliable source, stay consistent with it.

Vikram’s SSC GD journey shows that missing the cut-off once does not mean you cannot succeed. His 124 marks in the first attempt became a learning experience, and his decision to push himself harder helped him secure final selection in the CRPF on his second attempt.

His story is a reminder that consistent practice, the right guidance and the willingness to improve can turn a disappointing first attempt into a government job.
