For most SSC aspirants, one bad exam is enough to shake their confidence. Ansh Ajay Srivastava faced it twice, and kept going anyway. Ansh is from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. He spent two years preparing for SSC exams, and stayed with Physics Wallah's Surya Batch the whole time.
His journey wasn't easy or smooth. He missed exams, took a 101-day break from studies, and struggled with some subjects that just wouldn't stick in his head. But in the end, he got Rank 6845 in SSC CGL 2025 and became Office Superintendent in the Income Tax Department. Let's take a look at his journey with PW to know what inspired him to achieve success in the end.
Ansh’s success was the outcome of a preparation journey that had already been underway for two years, with PW becoming a consistent part of his routine.
Along with the Surya Batch, Ansh also used an additional English batch to strengthen his preparation. Staying with a structured learning setup over this period gave him a consistent base as he moved through different SSC exams and attempts.
After building his preparation over two years, Ansh faced one of the most difficult phases of his journey: repeatedly coming close to qualifying but falling short by a narrow margin.
The repeated near-misses affected his confidence and made him question whether he should continue. His preparation was also interrupted by a 101-day gap in November, but the break did not end his journey. Once his Tier 1 result came in, he returned to his studies and began rebuilding his routine.
Returning after a long break meant Ansh needed a batch that could help him manage both current classes and pending topics. He focused on attending Surya Batch live classes and solving practice questions soon after completing each chapter.
This approach helped him turn daily learning into regular practice instead of allowing topics to accumulate. When he had pending chapters, he continued attending new classes while covering older topics alongside them.
For Ansh, PW’s role was therefore practical: live classes gave his preparation structure, while DPPs and continued practice helped him manage the gap between learning and revision.
With his routine back on track, Ansh shifted his focus towards the subjects and topics where he was losing marks. Current Affairs and Static GK were particularly difficult because he found himself forgetting information despite studying it.
Instead of leaving these areas aside, he repeatedly revised his Current Affairs material and Static GK books. He followed a different strategy for Maths by first identifying which topics were strong and which required more attention.
Once he understood where he was losing marks, Ansh used additional practice, chapter-level mocks, and sectional tests to work on Advanced Maths. This shift from general preparation to targeted practice helped him address specific weaknesses rather than treating every topic in the same way.
The setbacks and changes in strategy eventually led to Ansh securing Rank 6845 in SSC CGL 2025 and the post of Office Superintendent in the Income Tax Department. However, the selection is not where he plans to stop.
His next goal is to prepare for SSC CGL 2026 while continuing with his selected post. His experience shows that improvement does not always come from studying for more hours; identifying specific gaps and working on them consistently can make preparation more effective.
Ansh also believes that internal motivation matters when preparation becomes difficult. His journey, from narrow misses and a 101-day break to Rank 6845, shows that setbacks can become part of the preparation process rather than its endpoint.
