Tier 1 of the SSC CGL Examiner exam is the preliminary stage and acts as a screening test. The exam evaluates basic knowledge across four key subjects: General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Following are some key pointers:

  • Each section carries equal weightage with 25 questions each.
  • Each correct answer awards 2 marks, and for each wrong answer, 0.50 marks are deducted as negative marking.

Detailed SSC CGL Examiner Tier 2 Exam Pattern

The paper covers Math, Reasoning, English, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, and Typing Speed. Sections I and II are merit-based, while Section III is qualifying but mandatory.

Section I – Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning

This section is divided into two modules. The first, Mathematical Abilities, includes topics like Number Systems, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, and Data Interpretation. It tests candidates' numerical problem-solving skills. The second, Reasoning and General Intelligence, evaluates logical thinking through topics such as Coding-Decoding, Analogies, Puzzles, Blood Relations, and Syllogisms.

Section II – English Language and General Awareness

This section assesses language skills and awareness of current and static affairs. The English module tests grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and error detection. The General Awareness module includes topics from History, Polity, Geography, Economy, Science, and Current Events, focusing on a candidate’s general knowledge.

Section III – Computer Knowledge Module and Data Entry Skill Test (DEST)

Section III includes two parts and is qualifying in nature. The Computer Knowledge Test evaluates basic IT skills like MS Office, Internet usage, and networking. The DEST checks typing speed, requiring candidates to type 2000 key depressions in 15 minutes. Though marks from this section aren't counted in the final result, it must be passed to qualify.
