SSC GD 2026 Medical Rules Changed: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has revised medical guidelines for the Constable (GD) 2026 exam. SSC GD 2026 Medical Rules Changed Notice has been issued on the official website. It is an important corrigendum concerning the Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2026. The Uniform Guidelines for Medical Examination have been updated. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) revised these guidelines for the criteria for rejection based on weight.

Key Changes Regarding Weight Change Criteria

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has clarified and amended Para 2(d) of the Uniform Guidelines for Recruitment Medical Examination in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. It addresses how candidates are assessed based on their weight.

• Physical Standard Measurement: Height, weight, and chest will still be measured and recorded by the Physical Standard Test Board (PST Board). Medical Officers will not be part of the PST Board.

• PST Board's Role: The PST Board will no longer disqualify any candidate solely due to their weight.

• Medical Officer's Role: While the PST Board records height and chest, the Medical Officer will measure and record the candidate's weight during the Medical Examination Test (MET).

• BMI Criteria for Rejection: The normal Body Mass Index (BMI) range is now set at 18-25. Candidates found with a BMI below 18 (underweight) or above 25 (overweight) will be rejected.

The formula to calculate BMI is: Weight in KG / (Height in meters)²

Applicability Of SSC GD New Rules

The newly revised Uniform Guidelines for Medical Examination have been implemented.  These guidelines are to be followed for conducting the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME) for the Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2026. The changes are effective from March 09, 2026. Candidates who will apply for the SSC GD recruitment-related examination. They need to follow the SSC GD new rules regarding the medical examination. 

Issuing and Approving Authorities

Staff Selection Commission (SSC), under the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, has issued a notice informing candidates regarding the changed medical rules. Candidates need to follow the authority guidelines regarding the medical rules changes of the BMI index. BMI should not be below 18 or above 25. The authority will not reject the candidates based on the weight in the SSC GD recruitment medical rounds.
