SSC Issues Advisory on Computer System Handling During Exams

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued an SSC exam centre instructions to candidates and exam functionaries regarding the handling of computer systems during examinations. The Commission has observed that during examinations conducted in previous years, computer systems provided for conducting examinations were restarted, changed, or otherwise handled by candidates without any reported or genuine technical issue, either independently or in coordination with examination staff.

According to the SSC exam advisory 2026, candidates must not independently restart or shut down the Computer System or change or replace the Computer/Monitor. In case of any technical problem, candidates must immediately report it to the Centre Staff/Invigilator/authorised examination staff and refrain from any unauthorised or unnecessary intervention with the Computer System or examination equipment.

SSC Candidates Advisory: Key Points

The SSC advisory aims to ensure the integrity, security, smooth conduct and fairness of the examination. Candidates and Exam Functionaries are therefore required to strictly follow the prescribed instructions regarding computer systems and examination equipment.

Candidates should keep the following instructions in mind during the examination:

  • Do not restart or shut down the Computer System independently.

  • Do not change or replace the Computer/Monitor independently.

  • Report any technical problem immediately to the Centre Staff/Invigilator/authorised examination staff.

  • Allow the Centre Staff/Invigilator/authorised examination staff to assess and address the technical problem.

  • Refrain from any unauthorised or unnecessary intervention with the Computer System or examination equipment.

SSC Computer System Advisory: Activities Strictly Prohibited

As per the SSC latest advisory 2026, all candidates and Exam Functionaries should refrain from any unauthorised or unnecessary intervention with the Computer System or examination equipment.

SSC candidates and Exam centers are instructed that the following activities are strictly prohibited unless they are specifically carried out by authorised examination staff in accordance with the prescribed examination procedure:

  • Restarting or shutting down the Computer System.

  • Changing or replacing the Computer/Monitor.

These instructions form part of the SSC exam guidelines 2026 for maintaining the integrity, security and uniform conduct of examinations.

SSC Exam Instructions 2026 for Technical Problems

If a candidate experiences a technical problem with the Computer System before the commencement of the examination or during the examination, the candidate must immediately report the issue to the Centre Staff/Invigilator/authorised examination staff.

Thereafter, the Centre Staff/Invigilator/authorised examination staff shall first assess the problem and take appropriate action, wherever necessary, with the permission of the authorised representative of the Regional Office/IO/Centre Coordinator, as applicable.

Candidates should therefore follow the prescribed procedure and report any technical issue to the authorised examination staff instead of independently handling the computer system.

SSC Computer Rules 2026 against unauthorised activity

The SSC computer rules 2026 state that candidates and Exam Functionaries must not independently engage in any unauthorised activity involving the computer system.

If any Candidate or Examination Functionary (EF) is found to have independently engaged in any unauthorised activity, appropriate action shall be taken against them in accordance with the provisions of the relevant rules and notice of examination concerned, as applicable.
