It is important for students to get passing marks in order to clear the exam. The minimum marks students must score is 30 marks out of 100 marks, since English doesn’t have an internal assessment.
But there are certain options you can choose in case you don't score 30 marks:
You can apply for the compartmental exam. You should talk to the school management for the application form and the process.
You can also apply for the re-evaluation and re-checking to ensure that there was no error in checking.
In some cases, the BSES gives grace marks to pass students borderline.
Begin with high-scoring sections like the Grammar and Writing section like the composition part. These sections follow set rules, memorizing them can make these sections easy to prepare and scoring.
Focus on preparing for the objective questions since these questions carry 50 marks, getting these right can boost your score.
Use short acronyms for memorizing the difficult poetry lines, character traits and themes. These points play an important role in the Literature section.
Use a structured approach for the writing section i.e., for letters, remember "SIRS" (Salutation, Introduction, Reason, Solution) to structure formal letters properly. For essays, follow a simple 3-paragraph format (Introduction, Body, Conclusion) to make writing easier and structured.
Follow a three-hour exam strategy while attempting the exam. Go through the paper carefully in the first 15 minutes. Finish objective questions and unseen passage in the next 1 hour. Complete the literature and writing section in another one hour, and use the last 15 minutes to revise and go through the answers you’ve attempted.
