The official syllabus and the marking scheme has been released by the Madhya Pradesh Board for students preparing for their Class 9th exams. Class 9th plays an important role in the learning process for students appearing for the board exams next year.

The MP Board Class 9 English Syllabus follows the NCERT pattern and includes subjects like Hindi, Mathematics, Science, and regional languages like Urdu, Sindhu and more. The syllabus is combined for all 9th to 12th classes to ensure a consistent learning approach.

MP Board Class 9 English Syllabus 2025

The syllabus for English is structured and covers the English Literature as well as English Language syllabus. It emphasizes writing skills, grammar, reading comprehension, and literature to enhance students' language proficiency and critical thinking.

The subject is of total 100 marks, dividing it into written exam and practical/ internal assessment. The written exam carries 75 marks which is to be completed in 3 hours and the practical/ internal assessment which carries 25 marks. 

The syllabus is divided into reading comprehension, note making, letter writing, composition, picture guided composition, grammar and textbook sections. It is important for students to focus on each section as it will help them develop analytical skills and have a strong command over the language.

Section A: Reading Skills

This section tests students’ reading skills and how much the student can comprehend the language. It includes literary, descriptive, and case based reading. 

Section B: Writing Skills

This section tests the knowledge of English language through notemaking, letter writing, long composition, and picture guided composition. 

In Part 3, i.e., the note making section, the skills are tested to see how much the student has understood. 

In Part 4 i.e., the letter writing, students are asked to write a formal/informal letter to enable the students to identify the elements of a letter and to apply them and compose a letter. This will check how coherent their writing skills are. 

In Part 5, i.e., Long Composition Section, students are asked to write an essay/ article/ paragraph to help them present a topic while developing complete research, creative skills, communication skills, and to present their thoughts coherently etc.

In Part 6, i.e., the picture guided composition section encourages students to describe and observe details in the given pictures. It will help them decode information easily while improving vocabulary and comprehension skills.

 The Section C: Grammar carries 10 marks. It includes questions on tenses, prepositions, verbs, articles, modals, etc.
