Rajasthan Board Major Update: To help reduce exam stress for students, the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has announced that from the 2026–27 session, board exams will be held twice a year. Education Minister Madan Dilawar said on X that both Class 10 and Class 12 students will get two chances to take their exams. The first exam will be mandatory, and the second one will be optional, where students can try to improve their marks in up to three subjects.
Both exams will include the full syllabus, and the better score from the two attempts will be counted as the final result. This new system is meant to reduce exam pressure, give students more flexibility, and help them study regularly throughout the year. The first RBSE exam will be held in February–March, and the second exam in May–June.
All students will have to take the first RBSE board exam in February–March. Those who qualify can reappear in up to three subjects in the second exam (May–June) to improve their marks. Both exams will cover the entire syllabus, and there will be no changes in the study plan.
Students who miss the first exam due to illness can take the second one by showing a medical certificate or with approval from the district education officer. Candidates with a supplementary result can also appear in up to three subjects, including the supplementary ones.
The exam fee will stay the same for both attempts. Under the “best of two attempts” rule, the higher marks from either exam will be counted as the final result. Minister Madan Dilawar said this change will reduce exam stress, give students more flexibility, and support the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
