The selection process for the Constable position in the Bihar Police Special Branch involves multiple stages designed to assess candidates' aptitude and physical fitness. Each stage is crucial for advancing to the next.
Written Examination: Candidates will first appear for a written examination, which can be computer-based or OMR-based. This exam consists of two papers. Each paper will be of 100 marks and 90 minutes duration. Paper I will cover Reasoning & Analytical Ability (50 Marks), English Grammar/Comprehension (30 Marks), and Hindi Grammar (20 Marks). Paper II will cover General Studies & Current Affairs (50 Marks), Mathematics & Quantitative Aptitude (30 Marks), and Bihar General Knowledge (20 Marks). There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Candidates must secure a minimum of 30% marks in both papers individually to qualify.
Physical Standard Test (PST): Shortlisted candidates (approximately three times the number of vacancies) based on the written exam performance will be called for the PST. This stage is qualifying in nature and includes measurements of height, chest (for males), and weight (for females). The physical standards are:
Height: General / BC (Male): Minimum 165 cm; EBC / SC / ST (Male): Minimum 160 cm; All Women Categories: Minimum 155 cm.
Chest (Male Only): General / BC / EBC: 81 cm (Unexpanded) to 86 cm (Expanded); SC / ST: 79 cm (Unexpanded) to 84 cm (Expanded). Minimum expansion of 5 cm is mandatory.
Weight (Female Only): Minimum 48 Kg.
Document Verification & Medical Examination: Qualified candidates from the PST will undergo document verification, where original certificates for age, education, caste, and domicile will be checked. This is followed by a medical examination to assess general health, vision, hearing, and check for conditions like color blindness.
