Here is a simple step-by-step guide to understand the full selection process of UPSSSC PET 2025, from the first exam to the final selection.
Prelims Exam
The UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) is the first step to getting Group C government jobs in Uttar Pradesh. It is a written test with 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks, and the exam lasts 2 hours. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The questions come from subjects like History, Geography, Economy, Constitution, Science, Math, Hindi, English, Reasoning, and Current Affairs. To move to the next stage, you must score the minimum marks decided by UPSSSC.
Mains Exam
After clearing the PET, only shortlisted candidates can apply for the main exam for specific jobs like Lekhpal or Junior Assistant. The main exam is different for each post. Its pattern, syllabus, and passing marks depend on the job you choose. So, candidates must prepare as per the post they are applying for.
Interview (If Applicable)
For some jobs, there may be a skill test after the main exam, like typing or stenography, if the job needs those skills. Some posts may also have an interview to check if the person is right for the job. These steps only happen if needed for that particular post.
Document Verification
After passing all the required exams, shortlisted candidates have to go through a document verification process. In this step, they must show their original certificates, like educational documents, ID proof, and other required papers. This is done to confirm that all the information given by the candidate is correct. Only after successful verification, the final selection is done.
Final Selection
The final selection is made based on how many marks a candidate gets in the main exam. If there is a skill test or interview for the post, its performance is also added. After checking all the documents, a merit list is prepared. Candidates whose names are on the list are selected for the job.
PET Score Validity: The PET score is valid for three years. You can use it to apply for multiple main exams during this period.
Mandatory for All: Appearing in PET is compulsory for all candidates seeking Group C jobs through UPSSSC.
No Direct Recruitment: You cannot directly apply for main exams or jobs without a valid PET score.
