GUJCET Exam Pattern 2024

GUJCET 2026 will be a 3-hour offline examination. Candidates can choose from Gujarati, English, and Hindi examination papers. The exam will have two papers: Paper 1 will have Physics and Chemistry, and Paper 2 will have Mathematics for students taking engineering, and Biology for students taking pharmacy. Each paper will comprise 40 multiple-choice questions.

Each correct answer will carry 1 mark, and each question answered incorrectly will have a negative marking of -0.25 marks. The GUJCET syllabus will be primarily based on Classes 11 and 12 under the GSEB. The GUJCET will test conceptual clarity and numerical ability, which is why time management and accuracy are important in this examination.

The GUJCET exam for 2026 will be conducted offline as a pen-and-paper-based test, lasting a total of 3 hours. The question paper is divided into two main parts—Paper 1 and Paper 2.

GUJCET Exam Subject-Wise Marking Scheme 

Understanding the GUJCET exam pattern by subject helps candidates allocate study time effectively and maximize scoring potential. Clear knowledge about question distribution, time allotment, and marking scheme across Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics ensures a focused preparation strategy for GUJCET 2026.

  • There are a total of 40 multiple-choice questions in the GUJCET Exam pattern for Biology, which must be completed in a total of 60 minutes. Students preparing for Biology should ensure they are very clear in concepts from both 11 and 12, with a focus on diversity of living organisms, structural organization, and so on. 

  • The GUJCET Exam pattern for Physics will also have 40 questions, with Physics and Chemistry integrated, and a total of 120 minutes allocated for both subjects. Candidates should ensure they have adequately prepared; the three core areas to study are mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism. 

  • The GUJCET Exam pattern for Chemistry will have a total of 40 questions, which will also be integrated with Physics as one paper in the first part of the Examination. The syllabus covers topics included in classes 11 and 12 in physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. 

  • The GUJCET Exam pattern for Maths will also have 40 questions in Mathematics as a separate paper in the exam paper itself. It is 60 minutes long. The topics they should study include algebra, calculus, and coordinate geometry, amongst others. 

  • A language section will be included in the GUJCET Exam pattern for English language, though it does not have a well-laid-out pattern before the exam, i.e, there is no well-documented ENG section before the exam about the format of language tests and basic grammar, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, etc. The pattern of other years' English section could be included in the GUJCET Exam.
