MHT CET Lateral Entry Admission 2026 offers a streamlined pathway for diploma and B.Sc. graduates to enter engineering programs directly in the second year (third semester) of B.E./B.Tech courses across Maharashtra.
This process, also known as Direct Second Year Engineering (DSE) admission, recognizes prior academic achievements, allowing eligible candidates to bypass the first year. Managed by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra, the lateral entry admission ensures a merit-based, centralized selection process that combines eligibility criteria, registration, document verification, and seat allotment through CAP rounds.
It is an ideal opportunity for aspirants seeking a fast-track entry into reputed engineering colleges while leveraging their diploma or degree qualifications.
The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, manages the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for lateral entry. Unlike first-year admissions, DSE admissions are primarily based on the marks obtained in the qualifying diploma or degree, though certain criteria regarding entrance exams may apply for specific categories.
