*First Languages include: Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu, etc.

**Second Languages: English (if not the first language) or Bengali/Nepali (if English is the first language).

Important Update Special 24-Hour Enrollment Window

In a critical recent development, WBBSE has announced a special one-time concession for students who missed their registration due to school-level errors.

• Window Duration: Opens at 12:00 PM on January 27, 2026, and remains active until 12:00 PM on January 28, 2026.

• Eligibility: Candidates must have passed the Class 10 Test Examination and maintained a minimum attendance of 70% in Classes 9 and 10.

• Admit Card Issuance: For those registering during this window, the Madhyamik Pariksha 2026 admit card and ASR documents will be issued on January 29, 2026, between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the WBBSE office in Salt Lake. 

WB Madhyamik 2026 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The WB Madhyamik 2026 syllabus remains comprehensive, covering seven mandatory subjects: First Language, Second Language, History, Geography, Mathematics, Physical Science, and Life Science.

Exam Structure

• Total Marks: Each paper is for 100 marks—90 marks for the written theory exam and 10 marks for internal formative assessment.

• Qualifying Marks: Students must score a minimum of 25% in each subject to pass.

• No Negative Marking: There is no deduction for incorrect objective answers.
