WBJEE 2026 Application Number.
Date of Birth and Category/Reservation status.
Composite Marks in Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry).
Total Marks secured in the exam.

Qualifying Status.
Candidate's Photograph and Signature.
The WBJEE Board (WBJEEB) prepares and publishes two separate merit lists based on the candidates' performance in the WBJEE 2026 examination:
General Merit Rank (GMR): This rank list is prepared based on the candidate’s total score obtained in both Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper II (Physics & Chemistry). The GMR is used for admission to all Engineering, Technology, and Architecture courses, as well as Pharmacy courses at Jadavpur University.
Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR): This rank list is prepared solely based on the marks secured by the candidate in Paper II (Physics and Chemistry). The PMR is used for admission to all Pharmacy courses, except those offered by Jadavpur University.
The merit lists are arranged in descending order of the total marks secured, and the tie-breaking guidelines are strictly enforced to assign a unique rank to every candidate.
If two or more candidates obtain the same total score in the WBJEE 2026 examination, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board employs a set of detailed tie-breaking rules, applied sequentially, to determine the higher rank:
Fewer Negative Marks: The candidate with the lesser collective negative marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry combined will be assigned a higher rank.
Higher Positive Marks (Physics and Mathematics): If the tie persists, the candidate with the highest collective positive marks in Physics and Mathematics will be prioritised.
Higher Positive Marks (Chemistry and Mathematics): If the tie remains, the candidate with the highest collective positive marks in Chemistry and Mathematics will be given the higher rank.
Fewer Negative Marks (Physics and Mathematics): If the tie is still not broken, the candidate with the lesser collective negative marks in Physics and Mathematics is ranked higher.
Fewer Negative Marks (Chemistry and Mathematics): Subsequently, the candidate with the lesser collective negative marks in Chemistry and Mathematics receives a higher rank.
Older Age: Finally, if the tie remains after all academic criteria, the candidate who is older in age will be given preference and assigned the higher rank.
Understanding the expected score versus rank correlation helps candidates gauge their performance after the WBJEE 2026 result declaration and plan for the subsequent counselling rounds. The table below provides an Expected WBJEE Marks vs. Rank analysis based on previous years' data and trends.
