The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has introduced major MPSC Service Entry Rule Reforms 2026 after Cabinet approval. These reforms aim to make the MPSC recruitment process simpler, transparent, and fair. Around 574 service entry rules will be updated to remove confusion. The purpose of the reforms is to bring about changes in the recruitment process. Interested candidates can apply for the recruitment easily.
MPSC recruitment rules were different for each post, depending on education, skills, and experience. New recruitment rules can help candidates apply for the jobs accordingly.
Standardise recruitment rules.
Simplify the application process.
Improve transparency and fairness.
This will help candidates better understand the MPSC exam and selection process.
Experience requirements will be removed for direct recruitment.
Fresh graduates can now apply for many posts.
Similar posts will have the same eligibility criteria.
This step promotes equal opportunity and ensures that selection is based on merit in the MPSC exam.
Earlier, exams covered around 50 services.
Now, the number will increase to 102 services.
This means:
More job opportunities through a single MPSC combined exam.
Fewer exams but more posts.
Better career chances for candidates preparing for MPSC exams.
18 new services.
A total of 29 new cadres.
All posts under MPSC Group B and Group C services will be divided into:
Administrative Cadre.
Technical Cadre (IT, Engineering, etc.).
Technical posts will have a separate recruitment process, ensuring skilled candidates are selected for specialised roles in MPSC recruitment.
For gazetted posts:
Recruitment will be done through promotion or deputation.
Interviews will be reduced or removed.
This will reduce bias and improve fairness in the MPSC selection process.
For non-gazetted posts:
A No Interview Policy will be applied.
Selection will depend only on the written MPSC exam.
This ensures complete transparency in MPSC recruitment for non-gazetted posts.
New roles related to Artificial Intelligence will be created.
Focus will shift towards modern and digital jobs.
This will make the MPSC job structure future-ready.
If a candidate is not selected in the MPSC exam, their data is saved.
Their skills, marks, and qualifications are analysed.
They are recommended for jobs in the private sector or other departments.
