MPSC New OMR Rules 2026: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced some updates regarding conducting the MPSC exams. All the updates are regarding the OMR sheet options, candidates signature on the OMR sheet, introducing 5 options, and the marking scheme. The exam conducting team wants to smoothly conduct the MPSC examination for the recruitment of candidates. Therefore, they have added a simple 7-digit number referred to as the unique identification number for the candidates. The number will be used in the recruitment process.

Key Changes Explained

The MPSC New OMR Rules 2026 have been introduced by the MPSC authority. Candidates who will appear for the MPSC exams. They need to follow all the rules and regulations carefully. 

Introduction of the 5th Option (Option ‘E’)

MPSC has added a fifth option designated as 'E' to the OMR sheet. There were four options. The option is for questions that a candidate chooses not to attempt. Candidates must now select option 'E' to indicate that they are not providing an answer.

Mandatory Shading and Negative Marking

Candidates must shade one of the five circles for every question, and if all five circles for any question are left blank. It will be considered an incorrect attempt. A penalty of ¼ mark will be deducted. 

Changes to Seat Numbers

An update has been made to the system of seat numbers. The previous alphanumeric 8-character seat number has been replaced. It has been replaced with a simple 7-digit numerical seat number. It is new numerical format will be consistent throughout the entire recruitment process. It is from the preliminary exam to the interview stage.

New OMR Sheet Format

The OMR sheets will see some modifications. It is to improve usability and transparency for candidates. The new OMR sheet will be divided into two sections. The first part is dedicated to recording answers. The second part is for filling in personal details such as the candidate's name, seat number, and subject code. OMR sheets will feature a carbonless copy. It allows candidates to take the bottom carbon copy with them.

Important Instructions For Candidates

  • Candidates need to use the blackpoint pen to write their answers in exams. 

  • Candidates must use the QR code that is not damaged in the OMR sheet. Then, the exam sheet may not be evaluated. 

  • Sign the OMR sheet. If any candidate forgets to sign the OMR may lead to the disqualification.
