RPSC RAS Prelims Syllabus 2026

The RPSC RAS Preliminary Examination consists of one objective-type paper on General Knowledge and General Science. It is conducted to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.  The questions are asked from History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science, Reasoning, Current Affairs, and Rajasthan-specific subjects. The paper serves as a screening test for the next stage of the selection process. 

The syllabus tests conceptual understanding along with awareness of current national, international, and Rajasthan-related developments.  Candidates should also prepare topics related to Rajasthan's history, geography, culture, economy, and administrative system.

RPSC RAS Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the selection process. It is conducted in offline mode with multiple-choice questions. The examination is qualifying in nature, and the marks obtained are not counted in the final merit list.

Purpose

Screening Test for Main Examination

The questions in the Preliminary Examination are generally based on the graduate level. Candidates should prepare all sections equally because questions are asked from a wide range of subjects.

RPSC RAS Mains Syllabus 2026

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are called to appear for the Main Examination. The RPSC RAS Mains Exam is descriptive in nature. It consists of four compulsory papers. The first three papers are General Studies, while the fourth paper tests General Hindi and General English. 

Each paper carries 200 marks and is conducted for three hours. The General Studies papers are based on the graduate level, while the language paper is based on the Senior Secondary level. Below are the paper-wise topics covered in the RPSC RAS Mains Examination.

General Studies Paper I covers the history, geography, society, heritage, and culture of Rajasthan, India, and the world through descriptive questions. Questions are descriptive and require conceptual understanding.

Important Changes in RPSC RAS Syllabus 2026

The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has updated the RAS syllabus after a long gap.
