WBPSC Clerkship Selection Stages 2025 

The WBPSC Clerkship 2025 selection process consists of three main stages. Each stage is crucial, and candidates must qualify at every step to proceed to the next. 

Stage 1:  Objective Type Exam

  • This is the first stage and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions covering English, General Studies, and Arithmetic.

  • Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.

  • Duration: 90 minutes.

  • Only candidates who score above the qualifying marks in Part I are shortlisted for Part II 

Stage 2:  Conventional Type Written Exam

  • This stage is descriptive and tests language proficiency.

  • Group A: English (writing, comprehension, grammar)

  • Group B: Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali (writing, translation, grammar)

  • Each group carries 50 marks, totaling 100 marks.

  • Duration: 60 minutes.

  • Only those who qualify in both groups proceed to the next stage

Stage 3:  Computer Knowledge & Typing Test

  • Qualifying in nature; marks are not added to the final merit.

  • Candidates are tested on basic computer operations and must type at least 20 words per minute in English or 10 words per minute in Bengali.

  • Only candidates who clear this stage are considered for final selection

Stage 4: Medical Test

  • All finally shortlisted candidates undergo a medical examination to ensure physical and mental fitness for government service

Note: The final merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in Part I and Part II only. The typing test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
