Here are some important CLAT preparation tips to help you in your study plan. These cover subject-wise strategies, reading habits, mock tests, and revision methods to help you stay consistent and build confidence for cracking the CLAT exam.
Know the CLAT exam first: The CLAT exam has five sections – English, Current Affairs (GK), Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. Understand the weightage of each to plan your preparation better.
Daily reading habit: Spend 45–60 minutes reading editorials from The Hindu or The Indian Express. Write down 5 new words daily and revise them weekly to expand your vocabulary.
Current Affairs plan (12 months): Prepare monthly notes on laws, bills, judgments, reports, awards, and government schemes. Revise every Sunday to keep your memory fresh and updated.
Legal Reasoning practice: Solve previous-year passages regularly. Follow the rule: Read principle - Read facts - Apply principle. Avoid using outside legal knowledge.
Logical Reasoning routine: Practice for 30–40 minutes daily on arguments, assumptions, strengthen/weaken, and cause–and–effect questions. Target solving each question in under 1 minute.
Quantitative Techniques focus: Begin with Arithmetic topics like percentages, ratios, averages, time–speed–distance, and profit–loss. Maintain a one-page formula sheet for quick daily revision.
Mocks & analysis: Start with 1 mock test per week. In the last 8–10 weeks, increase to 2 mocks weekly. After each mock, list mistakes as reading errors, concept gaps, or speed issues—and reattempt within 48–72 hours.
