CTET 2026 New Exam Date: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet updated the schedule for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 22nd edition (September 2026 cycle). The exam is tentatively set to take place in  late September or the first week of October 2026 2026. This decision follows directives from the Supreme Court to allow eligible candidates who missed the earlier registration deadline another opportunity to apply. In compliance with this order, CBSE opened the online application window from August 25, 2026, to September 1, 2026.

CTET 2026 New Exam Date 

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not announced the revised schedule for the 22nd edition of CTET 2026. Originally scheduled for September 6, 2026, the examination was rescheduled following a Supreme Court direction to reopen the application portal for eligible candidates.Candidates who registered in both the initial and reopened windows can expect the exam date from late September or the first week of October 2026.  A viral notice has been released for 9 October, 2026 which is not announced by the CBSE itself. Reason Behind CTET 2026 Exam Rescheduling

The postponement of the September 2026 exam cycle was prompted by a Supreme Court order. The court directed CBSE to provide a fair chance to eligible teaching aspirants who could not complete their registration before the initial deadline.

To comply with the judicial order, CBSE reopened the portal between August 25 and September 1, 2026. This brief registration window allowed thousands of additional candidates across the country to submit their forms. 

CTET 2026 Shift Timings & Exam Pattern

The test will be conducted in two shifts for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates must reach their designated exam centers well before the gate closure time mentioned on their hall tickets.

• Shift 1 (Paper 2 - Classes VI to VIII): 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

• Shift 2 (Paper 1 - Classes I to V): 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM

Both papers consist of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each, with no negative marking for incorrect answers. A minimum score of 60% (90 marks out of 150) is required for general category candidates to qualify the examination.

CTET 2026 Admit Card

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will issue the CTET 2026 Admit Card online on the official website, ctet.nic.in 5-10 days before the exam date .The  document contains key details such as the exam center, shift timings, roll number, and candidate guidelines. Bringing a printed admit card along with a valid photo ID to the exam hall is mandatory for entry.

Steps to Download CTET 2026 Admit Card

Once released,  candidates can download their hall tickets directly from the official portal by following these steps:

1. Visit the official website at ctet.nic.in.

2. Click on the link titled "Download CTET Admit Card September 2026" on the homepage.

3. Enter your Application Number and Date of Birth in the login fields.

4. Click "Submit" to view your admit card on the screen.

5. Download the PDF and print two clear copies for exam day verification.
