Puducherry Primary Teacher Recruitment 2025: The Directorate of School Education recruits Puducherry Primary Teacher Recruitment 2025 to address the shortage of primary school teachers in government schools and has announced 190 Primary School Teacher posts. Applications will be accepted online from September 15, 2025, to October 14, 2025. 

Applicants must have progressed through Higher Secondary with a minimum of 50% marks, the 2-year Diploma in Teacher Education (D.T.Ed) or equivalent qualification, and be proficient in the regional language. Puducherry Primary Teacher Vacancy 2025

The total vacancies are subject to change but include posts across the Puducherry, Karaikal, and Mahe regions. The pay scale corresponds to Level 6 in the Pay Matrix. Reservations are provided as per the government norms to various categories, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, Ex-servicemen, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

Puducherry Primary Teacher Eligibility

The eligibility criteria to the discussed recruitment are the following. Before applying to the different vacancies, the candidates should verify the eligibility-

• Educational Qualification:

• Pass in Higher Secondary or equivalent (not less that, 50 percent marks).

• Diploma/ Certificate in Teacher Education not less than two years of duration as per the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).

• The applicants must have learned the local language (Tamil/Malayalam) to a minimum of secondary level or in Diploma/ Certificate course.

• Age Limit:

• 18 to 32 years on 14.10.2025 with relaxations on the categories that are reserved, ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities as per the government rules.

• Nativity:applicants should be permanent residents of the Union Territory of Puducherry or have been living in it at least 5 years.

Puducherry Primary Teacher Application Form 2025

Applications must be submitted online through the official portal http://recruitment.py.gov.in. Candidates should register with a valid mobile number, receive a username and password, and complete the application form carefully by uploading scanned photographs and signatures as per specifications. After online submission, a printout along with duly self-attested copies of the required documents must be sent to the Directorate of School Education, Puducherry by the deadline.

Puducherry Primary Teacher Salary

Selected candidates will be appointed with a salary in Level 6 of the Pay Matrix (as per 7th CPC pay structure). They are also entitled to other government benefits such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Medical facilities, and Pension as applicable.

Puducherry Primary Teacher Selection Process

The selection will be based on a merit system of 100 marks, made up of: 

• 70 marks for Academic Qualifications (Higher Secondary and Diploma in Teacher Education)

• 20 marks for marks obtained in Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) Paper-I (CTET, TNTET, or equivalent)

• 10 marks for seniority in Employment Exchange registration of the Union Territory of Puducherry

The merit list will be made as per the government reservation policy. The waitlist will also be made for a year for additional vacancies.
