Assam SET Minimum Qualifying Marks 2026

In order to be considered for eligibility as an Assistant Professor, candidates must meet the minimum aggregate percentage threshold across both Paper 1 and Paper 2 taken together:

  • General (Unreserved) & General EWS Category: Must secure at least 40% aggregate marks in both papers taken together.

  • Reserved Categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender): Must secure at least 35% aggregate marks in both papers taken together.

Meeting the minimum qualifying marks alone does not guarantee qualification. As per UGC guidelines, only the top 6% of total candidates appearing in all two papers (who also clear the minimum aggregate qualifying threshold) are declared qualified category-wise and subject-wise.

Factors Determining the Assam SLET Cut Off Marks

The SLET Commission, Assam calculates the final qualifying cutoff percentages based on several operational and performance criteria:

  • Total Number of Candidates: A higher number of candidates appearing in a particular subject increases competitive pressure and can raise the cutoff threshold.

  • Difficulty Level of Paper 1 and Paper 2: Tougher examination papers across subjects generally lower the cutoff percentage required to rank in the top 6% slot.

  • Category Reservation Quotas: Seat slots allocated to UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and EWS categories determine the final cutoff percentage for each group separately.

  • Subject-Wise Slot Allotment: The total number of qualifying slots available per subject is calculated proportionally based on the number of candidates securing minimum qualifying marks.
