HP SET Eligibility 2024: The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has released the official Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test (HP SET) notification on its official website. The HP SET 2024 exam is tentatively scheduled for March 17, 2024. This examination aims to assess candidates' suitability for Assistant Professor roles in universities and colleges across Himachal Pradesh. The eligibility criteria for the HP SET 2024 exam require candidates to hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant subject from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks for General and OBC category candidates, or 50% marks for SC, ST, PWD, and other reserved category candidates.

HP SET Educational Qualification 2024

• Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, are eligible for this Test if they belong to the General/Unreserved/General-EWS category.
• Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) of H.P./Scheduled Tribe (ST) of H.P./Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer of H.P.)/and Persons with Disability (PWD) of H.P. category are eligible for this test if they have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree.
• Candidates pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course, or those who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s Degree (final year) examination and are awaiting results, may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and will be considered eligible for the post of Assistant Professor in the Universities/Colleges situated in the State, only after they have passed their Master’s Degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC  and PWD category candidates of H.P.. Such candidates must complete their P.G. Degree examinations within two years from the date of SET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

• To be eligible for the HP SET exam, candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master's degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications from UGC-recognized universities/institutions.
• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) of Himachal Pradesh and Persons with Disability (PWD) of Himachal Pradesh category must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master's degree.
• Those pursuing or awaiting results of their Master's degree or equivalent exams can apply provisionally but must complete their degree within two years from the SET result date.
• Ph.D. holders whose Master's level exam was completed before 19th September 1991 can avail of a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (50% to 55%).
• Candidates should appear in the subject of their post-graduation; those with unavailable subjects may consider the UGC-NET/Joint CSIR-UGC Test.
• SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) /PWD candidates must have a certificate on parental lineage issued by the competent authority.
• Candidates with postgraduate diplomas/certificates from Indian or foreign universities should verify the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with a Master's degree from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

• NET/SET remains the minimum eligibility condition for recruiting and appointing Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. However, candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum standards and Procedure for Award for Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, are exempt from the requirement of NET/SET for Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
• For SET candidates: Those who cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor before June 1, 2002, are exempt from appearing in NET and are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions anywhere in India. For SET held from June 1, 2002, onwards, qualified candidates can apply for Assistant Professor positions only in the Universities/Colleges situated in the State where they cleared their SET. There is no age limit, and candidates can appear in the SET any number of times.
