Candidates must satisfy the required JK SET 2026 Eligibility Criteria includes educational qualifications to be eligible for the exam.
General Candidates: Must hold a Master's degree or equivalent qualification with at least 55% aggregate marks from a UGC-recognized university.
Reserved Categories: Candidates belonging to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PwD, and Transgender categories must have at least 50% aggregate marks in their Master's degree.
Final Year Students: Candidates who are currently pursuing their Master's degree or awaiting final results can apply provisionally. They must complete their degree with the required percentage within two years from the result declaration date.
Ph.D. Holders: Candidates with a Ph.D. degree whose Master's examination was completed prior to September 19, 1991, receive a 5% mark relaxation.
JK SET 2026 Syllabus follows the general structure set by UGC/CSIR NET examinations. Paper-I tests general teaching ability, reasoning skills, comprehension, and general awareness. Paper-II focuses on specific subject knowledge across 41 listed subjects such as English, Chemical Sciences, Economics, Commerce, Life Sciences, and History.
JK SET Exam Pattern 2026 consists of two objective-type papers. Both papers are conducted on a single day.
Paper I consists of general questions on teaching and research aptitude.
