Kerala SET 2026 Eligibility Criteria 2026

To be eligible for the Kerala SET 2026, candidates must meet specific criteria regarding nationality, age, and educational qualifications. These requirements ensure that only qualified individuals apply for the examination.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit prescribed for candidates appearing for the Kerala SET 2026 examination. This allows individuals of various age groups to apply.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade. A B.Ed. degree from a university in Kerala or an equivalent recognized university is also generally required. There are specific relaxations and exceptions:

  • For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, an MSc.Ed Degree with at least 50% marks from Regional Institutes of Education (NCERT) is eligible.

  • A B.Ed. Degree is not required for subjects like Commerce, French, German, Geology, Home Science, Journalism, Latin, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Russian, Social Work, Sociology, Statistics, and Syriac.

  • Candidates with a II class Master's Degree in Communicative English (with 50% marks) and a B.Ed. are eligible for SET in English.

  • SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates receive a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks required for eligibility.

  • Final year B.Ed. or Post Graduate Programme students who meet the minimum marks can apply. They must pass their qualifying examination within one year of SET result publication.

Kerala SET 2026 Application Process 2026

The application process for Kerala SET 2026 is conducted entirely online. Candidates must follow a series of steps to successfully submit their applications.

Steps to Apply Online:

  • Visit the official website – www.lbscentre.kerala.gov.in

  • Navigate to the 'online services' section, select 'SET and other Exams', then 'SET-JANUARY-2026'.

  • Register a valid mobile number in STEP 1. An OTP will confirm registration.

  • Fill in the online application form with all required personal and academic details in STEP 2. Submit the form and keep the Registration ID.

  • Upload a recent photograph in STEP 3, ensuring it meets the specified dimensions (200x150 pixels) and file size (max 30 KB, JPG format). Follow all photo guidelines strictly.

  • Pay the application fee online via Debit/Credit card/Net Banking in STEP 4. The fee is non-refundable.

  • After completing all steps, print out the filled application form for future reference. Only differently-abled candidates needing scribe facilities must send a printout and medical certificate to the LBS Centre.

The application fee for Kerala SET 2026 varies by category. Payment is strictly online. Candidates must pay applicable processing charges and GST in addition to the fee. For General/OBC, It is 1300/- and for the rest, it is 750/-

Kerala SET 2026 Exam Pattern 2026

The test is designed to assess both general knowledge and subject-specific expertise. The examination comprises two papers, both objective in nature.

  1. Written Exam: The written test consists of two papers:

  • Paper I: Common for all candidates. It covers General Knowledge (Part A) and Aptitude in Teaching (Part B). This paper has 120 objective questions, each carrying one mark, to be completed in 120 minutes.

  • Paper II: Based on the candidate's subject of specialization at the Post Graduate (PG) Level. There are 31 subjects available. For most subjects, there are 120 objective questions, each carrying one mark. For Mathematics and Statistics, there are 80 objective questions, each carrying 1.5 marks. Duration is 120 minutes.
