KSET Eligibility 2024: The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET), conducted annually by the Karnataka Examination Authority  Center at the University of Mysore, shortlists aspirants for the position of lectureship/Assistant Professor in Karnataka. It is mandatory for the candidates to update themselves with the eligibility requirements mentioned by the Board.  Failure to meet any of the KSET Eligibility 2024 requirements will lead to automatic disqualification of the candidate's application. Therefore, candidates should ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions before applying for the KSET 2024 exam.

KSET Educational Qualification 2024

1. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) for the general category and 50% for the SC, ST, PWD, and OBC categories in their Master's Degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university.
2. Currently Pursuing Degree: Candidates who are currently pursuing their Master's Degree or equivalent course or those who have appeared for their final year exam and are awaiting results can also apply provisionally. However, they must provide proof of passing the Master's Degree with the required percentage within two years of the KSET result, or their candidature will be disqualified.
3. Subject Eligibility: Candidates must appear for the KSET in the subject of their post-graduation. If their subject is not listed, they can appear for UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET instead.
4. Relaxation for Ph.D. Holders: Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination was completed before September 19, 1991, can avail of a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
5. Reservation Categories: Candidates must mention their reservation status in the online application form. They must also submit valid category certificates issued by the competent authorities by the last date of submission. In case of invalid certificates, their candidature will be cancelled, and they may face legal action.
6. OBC Candidates from Other States: OBC candidates from states other than Karnataka will be treated as General Merit (GM) as per the Karnataka Government's reservation policy.
7. Candidature Provisional: Candidates' candidature is provisional, and fulfilling eligibility conditions is mandatory. The KSET authority reserves the right to cancel candidature if any ineligibility is detected at any stage.
8. Previously Eligible Candidates: Candidates who have already been declared eligible in previous KSET tests are not allowed to apply for the same subject again. If found eligible in the current KSET for the same subject, their previous eligibility will be withdrawn.
9. Equivalence of Foreign Degrees: Candidates with foreign degrees/diplomas/certificates must ascertain the equivalence of their qualifications with a Master's degree from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in).

KSET Exemption Criteria 2024

• Candidates who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are exempted from appearing in the KSET examination.
• For SET candidates, those who have cleared the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in KSET and are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions anywhere in India.
• For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/Colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.
