For Jansi Maurya, the goal behind preparing for UGC NET was closely connected to her interest in research. A BTech final-year student from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, she had already taken a one-year drop and was looking for a path that could take her towards research and an integrated PhD. That led her to UGC NET, where she began preparing with a clear objective but initially needed direction on how to approach the exam.
For Jansi Maurya, UGC NET was closely connected to her long-standing interest in research. While pursuing BTech, she learned that an integrated PhD could be an option after graduation, which motivated her to prepare for the examination. She had also taken a one-year drop, giving her preparation a clear purpose.
She described her journey as simple, built around consistency and following a structured preparation plan:
“Mera naam Jansi Maurya hai. Main Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh se hoon aur main B.Tech final year student hoon. Maine ek saal ka drop liya tha. UGC mein research karne ka mujhe bahut shauk hai. Bahut pehle se main research karna chahti thi. Toh mujhe pata chala ki B.Tech ke baad integrated PhD ho sakti hai. Toh phir maine UGC NET ka exam diya. Uske liye maine prepare kiya aur bahut hi simple journey meri rahi hai.”
Her preparation was not based on constantly changing resources. Instead, she followed classes, revised what she studied, practised previous-year questions and regularly tested herself.
Once her preparation began, consistency became one of the defining parts of Jansi's routine. She attended the daily sessions and supplemented them with self-study, revisions, PYQs and tests.
She explained:
“Aur consistency, daily meri 8 to 9 hours ki study thi, aur bahut hi simple journey thi meri.”
She also completed three full revisions of the syllabus, while maintaining her preparation for both papers. Her regularity in classes was something her mentor also highlighted during the discussion.
For Jansi, preparation was therefore less about studying for a fixed number of hours and more about ensuring that the planned work was completed and revisited consistently.
Jansi specifically credited the Mission JRF Pro batch with giving her a roadmap when she was initially unsure about how to approach the examination. The structured sequence helped her understand what to study, how much to study, and when to revise.
She said:
“Ma’am, bahut zyada essence hai, because paid session mein humein achhi guidance milti hai ki humein kaise aur kya prepare karna chahiye, kaise karna chahiye. Daily jo DPP solve karni hoti hai, ma’am, woh bahut zyada important thi. Daily-to-daily, ma’am, aap jo classes leti thi, woh bhi bahut important thi. Ma’am, bahut zyada essence hai paid batch ki.”
The structure also helped her avoid going beyond what was required for the examination. She first worked on foundation building using the suggested standard books, followed the classes, revised the weekly content and then practised related PYQs.
Her preparation also included the Computer Science book recommended in the course, daily classes, DPPs, mock tests and the test series.
With the basic concepts covered, Jansi followed a repeated cycle of learning, revision and question practice. She did not leave PYQs until the end of her preparation; instead, she connected them with the topics she was studying.
She explained:
“Ma’am, self-study ka role bahut bada hai ismein, because jo humne padha, aapne jo padhaya, usko revision karna, phir usse related PYQs ko solve karna, aur uske baad book se us topic ko padhna, jisse humein us topic ki achhi clarity ho. Toh ma’am, self-study ka bahut bada role hai aur consistency ka bhi bahut bada role hai.”
Her routine became more intensive closer to the examination. While she generally studied for 8–9 hours a day, she increased this to 12–13 hours during the final phase. She also took mock tests regularly and used older one-shot sessions to revisit topics.
She summed up the approach she followed:
“Aur ma’am, pehle toh humein syllabus poora dekh lena chahiye, matlab start karne se pehle. Aur phir pichhle saal ke kuch 5-6 saal ke PYQs dekhne chahiye ki trend mein kaun se topics chal rahe hain ya phir kaise questions aa rahe hain. Phir us hisaab se humein apni preparation ki journey start karni chahiye.”
This approach allowed her to identify important areas early, focus on exam-oriented preparation and repeatedly practise the kind of questions she could expect.
Jansi's preparation ultimately translated into a 99.22 percentile and JRF qualification in UGC NET June 2026 Computer Science. Alongside Computer Science, she also worked deliberately on Paper 1, which she initially found challenging.
She credited her teachers for helping her improve in that area:
“But Nishant sir aur Gulshan ma’am ko bhi main thank you bolna chahti hoon. Unki wajah se Paper 1 bhi easy lagne laga. Aur Paper 1 mein bhi maine bahut achhe marks score kiye hain.”
Her preparation strategy also remained focused on studying to the level required by the examination rather than trying to cover everything available.
“Exam-oriented padhna hota hai keval. Aur jitne paper ki zarurat hai, utna padhein.”
She also recognised the importance of conceptual clarity and avoiding unnecessary depth in topics that did not require it for the examination.
Jansi Maurya's journey shows that a strong UGC NET preparation strategy does not necessarily need to be complicated. Her approach combined a clear roadmap with regular classes, self-study, same-day revision, weekly revision, PYQs, mock tests, and consistent study hours.
Her result also came after a year-long drop and alongside her BTech final year, making her preparation a reminder that clarity about the goal, consistency in execution and focused preparation can matter as much as the amount of material covered.
