Tabrej Alam’s UGC NET June 2026 journey offers a practical approach to this challenge. He secured 99.35 percentile and JRF by focusing on his foundation, analysing the examination pattern, studying important subjects and PYQs, and creating concise notes that he could revise quickly.

How Tabrej Alam Built His UGC NET Preparation Foundation

Tabrej did not begin his preparation by trying to cover every possible topic. His first focus was to understand the examination itself and create a strong foundation that he could return to throughout his preparation.

So basically maine apna preparation ek foundation se shuru kiya matlab ki apne base banaya foundation banaya phir us foundation se maine har ek cheez har ek point ko note down kiya ki agar koi exam ho raha hai to uska pattern kya hai.”

For Tabrej, understanding the examination pattern was an important first step. He noted down relevant points, including the positive and negative aspects of the examination, so that he could refer to them later instead of relying only on memory.

He also focused on analysing previous-year questions (PYQs) to identify recurring questions and understand the weightage of different subjects. Instead of attempting to cover every topic within a limited preparation period, he prioritised major subjects such as Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Computer Organisation and DSA.

Tabrej Alam's Strategy of Writing and Revising Short Notes

A major part of Tabrej’s preparation involved writing down important points rather than simply reading them. He maintained his own notes and recorded even small points that could help him during revision.

Kyunki wo base jo hota hai main us base ko baar-baar follow karta hoon wo jo maine notes bana rakha hai ek to aisi cheez hai na ki jo main likhta hoon na main har ek cheez chhoti se chhoti point apne copy mein note down karke chalta hoon.”

He believed that writing helped him retain information more effectively. According to him, repeatedly writing, practising and revising information gradually made it easier to recall during the examination.
He also advised students not to create unnecessarily lengthy notes. Instead, short summaries, mind maps and keywords could make revision faster and help connect concepts with questions.

How PW Helped Tabrej Alam Strengthen His Preparation

While Tabrej had already built a foundation through his preparation, he also used PW videos whenever he became stuck on a particular concept or needed additional clarity.

“Phir zarurat padti hai kisi point pe stuck ho jaana. Tab jaake main us point pe YouTube pe kholta hoon. PW ka Puneet ma’am ka video kuch ho gaya ya Gulshan ma’am ka aur video ho jaata hai to jo main memorise karne ke liye koi point ho gaya koi topic ho gaya tab main ek-ek us point ko kholta hoon.”

Rather than watching videos without a specific purpose, Tabrej used them to address points where he felt stuck. Once the concept became clear, he added the relevant information to his notes, making his existing foundation stronger.

He also highlighted the role of structured batches in maintaining consistency. According to Tabrej, regular live classes helped learners follow a routine, complete notes and avoid continuously postponing their preparation.

“Kyunki usmein consistency jo regular hote hain regular live classes aate hain to usmein bachche regular basis pe padh lete hain.”

His own preparation also involved taking a batch, building his foundation and preparing notes that he could revisit before examinations.

Tabrej Alam's Two-Step Method for Every Lecture

Tabrej followed a specific approach while studying from lectures. Instead of trying to prepare detailed notes during his first viewing, he first focused on understanding the lecture and then went through it again to create concise notes.

“Main ek baar sunta hoon phir go through hota hai starting se second attempt mein phir main notes banata hoon kyunki mujhe wo cheezein samajh mein aa gayi hai.”

This two-step process allowed him to understand the concept first and then identify the important points while preparing his notes. He also found that writing during the second attempt served as an additional revision.

For examination preparation, he preferred one-page notes containing the main points because lengthy notes could be difficult to revise immediately before the examination. Short notes allowed him to quickly go through important concepts and recall them when solving questions.

Why Consistency Became Important in Tabrej Alam's Strategy

Along with the right study method, Tabrej stressed the importance of maintaining consistency throughout preparation. He explained that taking long breaks could make it difficult to return to the same level of preparation.

“Genuinely aisa hota hai. And isko overcome kaise karna main agree karta hoon is cheez ko ki consistency bahut zaroori hai preparation ke duration ke according.”

He suggested that students should continue studying regularly and come prepared for the next class by revising what was already taught. This helped maintain continuity and made it easier to understand the next set of connected topics.

For Tabrej, preparation time was valuable, and avoiding unnecessary breaks was important. He encouraged students to give their full effort rather than later regretting that they had not done enough.

“Agar koi kisi cheez mein aapka 1% bhi chance hai na to usmein apna 110% do theek hai taaki aap baad mein regret na kar pao ki maine ye cheez nahi kiya.”

His message was not limited to qualifying one examination. He also viewed every preparation effort as an opportunity to add to one's knowledge and improve for future attempts.
