Preparing for UGC NET Political Science was a new challenge for Divyanshi Gupta because her academic background was in Biology before she pursued an MA in Political Science. She initially appeared for the December cycle but could qualify only for PhD because her preparation was affected by personal circumstances.
For the June 2026 cycle, Divyanshi upgraded her PW December 2025 batch and consistently attended live classes. She made running notes during classes, solved DPPs and PYQs alongside topics, attempted mock tests and revised regularly. Her efforts helped her secure 99.15 percentile in Political Science, although she missed JRF by just one question.
Divyanshi's transition to Political Science was different from that of many aspirants because her undergraduate background was in Biology. When she started her MA in Political Science, she initially expected the subject to be difficult.
βActually ma'am mera jo background hai maine BSc Biology se kiya hai aur MA Political Science se, to ma'am basic understanding nahi thi na concept bhi itna Political Science ka mujhe pata nahi thaβ¦β
She explored different YouTube teachers before finding the teaching approach that worked for her and eventually enrolled in the PW batch.
β...mujhe accha laga aapka samajh mein aaya aapka concept matlab clear bahut accha se samajh mein aaya, to maine phir batch mein enroll kiya.β
This helped her build her understanding of Political Science while preparing for UGC NET.
Divyanshi had appeared in the previous December cycle but could qualify only for PhD. She then continued preparing for the June examination through the PW batch.
β...maine December last December cycle ka jo exam hua tha to maine wo diya tha lekin us time meri itni preparation acchi nahi ho paayi thi thoda personal issue ki wajah se, to only PhD maine qualify kiya tha us time pe.β
For the June cycle, she upgraded her December 2025 batch and attended the live classes consistently.
βAbhi June ka jo exam hua tha us time matlab wo to accha tha, live classes bhi maine actually batch December 2025 ka liya tha aur maine upgrade kiya tha June ke liye batch ko.β
The second preparation cycle gave her a more consistent approach towards the examination.
Divyanshi primarily attended live classes and made her notes while the classes were happening. She preferred this method because preparing notes later would take additional time.
βMa'am main mostly main live class hi attend karti thi... To main live class mein hi running notes banaati thi.β
She followed the class with immediate practice, solving DPPs and PYQs alongside the topics she studied.
βAnd then uske baad DPP and PYQs saath-saath hi main topic padha uske saath hi PYQ laga liyeβ¦β
This approach helped her connect the concepts from class with the type of questions asked in previous examinations.
Instead of completing Paper 1 first and leaving Paper 2 for later, Divyanshi gave time to both papers every day. She set daily targets for specific units or topics in each paper.
βNahi ma'am, ma'am daily ma'am dono dono hi padhti thi. Actually main target banaati thi ki Paper One mein mujhe ye unit ya ye topic complete karna hai, Paper Two mein ye unit ya ye topic complete karna hai.β
She also maintained regular practice for the areas she found difficult, particularly the mathematical portion of Paper 1.
βMa'am Math ka bhi ma'am daily practice karti thi. DI ka daily mujhe do se teen DI daily main matlab lagaana hi lagaana haiβ¦β
Her consistent Paper 1 practice also helped her perform well in areas such as DI and comprehension in the June examination.
For Divyanshi, PYQs were not something to be left until the end of preparation. She solved them immediately after studying a topic and also used mock tests to identify additional information.
βAisa nahi hai ki hum topic padh liya phir PYQ baad mein laga rahe hain. Nahi, aapne topic padha uska turant PYQ lagaaiyeβ¦β
She also added new information from PYQs and mock tests to her existing notes, keeping them updated as her preparation progressed.
βNahi ma'am naya to main actually jab main PYQs lagaati thi ya mock test lagaati thi to bhi main naya information jo bhi milta tha wo saara apne notes mein add karti rehti thiβ¦β
This made her notes a continuing source of revision rather than something prepared only once.
Revision remained an important part of Divyanshi's routine. After attending a class and making running notes, she reviewed the material again before the next class and continued revisiting it after longer gaps.
βDaily class notes ko ek baar dekh liya, matlab ki koi information agar reh gayi hai to usko add-on kar liya.β
She also created separate fact-based notes for areas such as thinkers, concepts and books and revised them multiple times.
β...to usse fact yaad karne ma'am wahi main baar-baar matlab chaar se paanch baar maine wo revise kiya thaβ¦β
Her approach combined immediate revision with repeated revision over one week and 15-day intervals.
After the June 2026 examination, Divyanshi felt confident about her Paper 2 performance, while Paper 1 seemed comparatively tricky to her. When the result came, she secured 99.15 percentile but missed JRF by one question.
βYes ma'am. ...main expect kar rahi thi ki JRF ho jaayega but ek question reh hi gaya.β
Although the result did not bring the JRF qualification she had expected, her 99.15 percentile reflected the improvement in her preparation and performance.
For aspirants preparing for the next UGC NET cycle, Divyanshi emphasised consistency, revision and preparation across different question types rather than relying on one expected pattern.
βHumein dono ke liye ready rehna hai. Humein fact bhi padhna hai, chronology bhi karni hai, concept bhi padhna hai, sab kuch karna hai. Aur consistency bahut zaroori hai. Revision bahut zaroori hai.β
She also advised aspirants to solve PYQs immediately after studying a topic and not leave any part of the syllabus untouched.
βDaily PYQ lagaane hain. Aisa nahi hai ki hum topic padh liya phir PYQ baad mein laga rahe hain. Nahi, aapne topic padha uska turant PYQ lagaaiyeβ¦β
Divyanshi Gupta secured 99.15 percentile in Political Science in UGC NET June 2026 after strengthening her preparation through PW's December 2025 batch, which she later upgraded for the June cycle. She consistently attended live classes, made running notes, solved DPPs and PYQs, attempted mock tests and revised topics repeatedly.
Her preparation also helped her overcome the challenge of coming to Political Science from a Biology background. Although she missed JRF by one question, her result reflects the progress she made through consistent preparation. For her next attempt, she plans to continue working towards JRF while preparing for Assistant Professor opportunities.
