Suryanshi Singh's UGC NET Political Science Story: How She Scored 99.89%ile and Cleared JRF with PW

Suryanshi Singh cleared UGC NET JRF in Political Science in her first attempt, scoring 99.89 percentile despite getting barely a month of real, focused study time out of her entire PW batch. Her result hinged on one notebook, one routine, and a handful of intense final days. Here's how that came together.

UGC NET June 2026 Political Science Topper Suryanshi Singh

The biggest challenge in UGC NET preparation is often not knowing what to study, but how to manage limited time and follow the right strategy. Suryanshi Singh faced the same challenge while balancing her Master's commitments and NET preparation.

Despite having only around 20–24 focused days before the exam, Suryanshi cleared UGC NET JRF in Political Science with 99.89%ile. She credits PW's structured strategy, Chronology Notebook, recorded classes, DPPs, and PYQ practice for helping her turn limited preparation time into a successful result.

Suryanshi's Unexpected Start with UGC NET

Suryanshi Singh decided to attempt UGC NET in the final year of her Master's in Political Science. With limited preparation time, she and her family were not expecting a JRF result.

“Actually, I’m also quite shocked ki mera JRF kaise nikla, because itni kam time ki preparation ke baad main aur meri family, hum sab expect nahi kar rahe the ki NET bhi niklega.”

She joined the PW UGC NET batch after her friend, who had qualified NET through PW, suggested it.

“Actually, ye jo PW UGC NET ka batch hai, mujhe meri friend ne suggest kiya tha, jiska khud NET isi ki wajah se qualify hua tha.”

Suryanshi's Fight Against a Constantly Shrinking Timeline

Suryanshi started the batch on 12 January but had to stop after two months because of college internals, presentations, and exams. She became free on 1 June, leaving around 20–24 days for preparation.

“Hum logon ne socha, 20 din hain, let’s give it our all.”

To cover the syllabus quickly, she watched long marathon classes at 2x speed and followed an intense study routine.

How PW's Strategy Helped Suryanshi Make the Most of Limited Time

She read the Chronology Notebook twice a day for all 20 days, and the payoff was measurable, not just reassuring.

“Main credit dena chahungi ki 40–45% jo questions the, unhe lekar jo confidence tha, woh mujhe us Chronology wali file se aaya. Toh uska bahut hi zyada bada haath tha meri preparation mein.”

Nearly half of her confidence in the paper came from repeatedly revising this one focused resource rather than trying to cover everything possible. That same discipline shaped her broader study routine too — recorded classes watched alongside running notes, cross-checked against Daily Class Notes, and followed immediately by DPPs. As she recalled:

“I used to take all the recorded classes. Main recorded classes dekhti thi because live classes attend nahi kar paati thi, kyunki hamara college 9:00 baje se start ho jaata tha. Toh main saari recorded classes dekhti thi aur parallelly running notes banati thi.

Uske baad, ma’am, ek cheez aur main miss nahi karti thi, jo thi daily class notes. And ma’am, phir jo DPPs the, woh solve karna. Ye mera ek complete routine tha har ek lecture ke baad.”

This routine meant she wasn't spending extra hours making notes separately — the notes were created alongside the class itself, freeing up time she badly needed. She then converted every unit into practice using PW's PYQ notebooks.

“Wahi jo PW ke hamare batch ke saath PYQ ki notebooks aati hain, both for Paper 1 and Paper 2, ma’am, usne bhi meri bahut zyada help ki. Kyunki jab un 24 days ke time mein aisa chal raha tha ki ek din mein ek-ek unit religiously khatam karna hi tha, wahi option tha mere paas.”

Finish a unit's video content, then immediately solve 80–120 questions from the PYQ notebook — this cycle, repeated unit after unit, is what allowed her to cover the syllabus meaningfully in under a month.

The Night Suryanshi's Result Changed Everything

Her provisional score was 210 marks. After challenged questions were accepted, her final score increased to 228 marks, helping her secure JRF.

“But I was hoping ki agar 6 questions accept ho jaayein, toh kaash JRF ho jaaye. Aur phir jab maine result khola aur JRF dekha aur parents ko bataya, toh parents ekdum shock ho gaye.”

Looking back, she believes following the same classes, questions, and DPPs repeatedly helped her make the most of her limited preparation time.

“Same questions, same classes, same DPPs—kuch extra nahi karna. Bas ek hi cheez ko baar-baar, baar-baar karte rehna hai.”

Suryanshi's journey isn't a story of unlimited time or a flawless preparation cycle - it's the opposite. Between college commitments, internals, and barely 20–24 focused days at the end, she still reached 99.89 percentile by sticking to a handful of resources, revising them relentlessly, and trusting a clear strategy over chasing more material.

For aspirants worried about a broken schedule or lost months, her result is a reminder that focused, consistent effort in whatever time remains can still lead to an outcome no one - not even her own family - quite expected.
