UGC NET Re-Exam Date 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the re-examination dates for the UGC NET June 2026 English, Commerce and Sociology papers. The decision comes after a committee constituted by NTA found several factual, typographical, translation and question-related errors in the three papers conducted during the UGC NET June 2026 examination.
According to the NTA notice dated August 16, 2026, the UGC NET re-exam for English and Commerce will be conducted on September 9, 2026, while the Sociology paper will be held on September 10, 2026.
No additional examination fee will be charged from candidates appearing for the re-examination.
The UGC NET 2026 re-examination schedule for the three affected subjects has been announced by NTA. Candidates can check the subject-wise exam date and shift timing below.

The UGC NET June 2026 examination was conducted from June 22 to June 30, 2026, covering 87 subjects.
NTA received several complaints regarding errors in the English, Commerce and Sociology question papers. Following the complaints, NTA constituted a committee to examine the issues.
The committee found multiple types of errors in the three papers, including:
Factual errors
Typographical mistakes
Translation errors
Misspelt names of prominent scholars
Incorrect or garbled book titles
Errors in question wording
Grammatical mistakes
Gender and number agreement errors
Punctuation errors
Non-standard terms used for established concepts
Repetition of a significant number of questions that had been used previously
The committee recommended conducting the three papers again to ensure a fair and error-free examination.
The UGC NET English re-examination is scheduled for September 9, 2026, in Shift 1.
The exam will be conducted from 9 AM to 12 Noon. Candidates who appeared for the June 2026 English paper should appear for the re-examination as per the details mentioned on their admit card.
The UGC NET Commerce re-examination is scheduled for September 9, 2026, in Shift 2.
The examination timing is 3 PM to 6 PM. Candidates should reach their allotted examination centre according to the reporting instructions mentioned on the admit card.
The UGC NET Sociology re-examination will be conducted on September 10, 2026, in Shift 1.
The examination will take place from 9 AM to 12 Noon.
NTA has not announced the detailed admit card release schedule for the re-examination in the notice dated August 16. The agency has stated that details regarding the examination city, examination centre and admit card will be notified separately.

Candidates appearing for the English, Commerce and Sociology re-examination do not need to pay any additional examination fee.
NTA has specifically stated that no additional examination fee will be charged from candidates of these three subjects for the re-conduct.
The re-examination of three subjects will not delay the result processing for the other 84 subjects.
NTA has stated that the results for the 84 subjects for which the answer key challenge process was issued earlier will be declared as per schedule.
The allocation of JRF seats and issuance of e-certificates for Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD admission for these 84 subjects will also not be delayed because of the re-examination.
NTA has clarified that the number of candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor eligibility will be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in the June 2026 examination or the re-test, whichever is higher.
For English, Commerce and Sociology, the subject-wise allocation for:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
Assistant Professor eligibility
PhD admission eligibility
will be carried out according to the provisions mentioned in the UGC NET Information Bulletin.
NTA has also stated that after the re-examination, the numbers already allocated for each subject will not be reduced under any circumstances.
